We did a sunset wildlife tour with Kevin Taylor on 7/22/20. It was our second tour (last in 2017) with the Science School.
The tour and Kevin were awesome.
We really wanted to see a male moose, so Kevin suggested we start the tour at 5:30 since the animals come out at dusk. We were picked up at our hotel (which they do for hotels in Jackson)and after finalizing some paperwork off we went. We ending up seeing pronghorn, several hawks, elk and a female moose and her calf. It was great and we had plenty of photo opportunities.
In addition to seeing the wildlife, Kevin provided a wealth of information on Jackson Hole, the ecology, geology and the animals.
The tour provides great (Marvin) binoculars, spotting scopes, water and Kate bars.
It was about 4 hours long.
We would recommend this tour to anyone looking to see wildlife in the Teton area.
Covid 19 info
The tours are all private for now (one family or related group to a tour) and do a good job adjusting for Covid 19.
Kevin wore a mask any time we were in close proximity (looking through the scope, pointing out animals etc) and we also wore masks throughout the tour.
The van had a ceiling to floor plexiglass barrier between the drivers area and the back area.
Overall we felt comfortable that our covid risk on the tour was acceptable.

This is by far the best thing we’ve done in Jackson Hole/Grand Tetons...and we’ve had the greatest adventure. Sign up for an all day trip, begin at 6 am, and request Kevin Taylor. I promise it’s worth every penny. Teton Science Schools thinks of everything: a van with a pop out roof for observing wildlife, snacks and beverages, and great cleanliness. Due to COVID, we all wore masks, had access to a hand sanitizer pump, and Kevin wipes the scope after each use.
Speaking of scopes, Kevin set these up and positioned them so that we could see wildlife up close. We got to know and see the advantages of a pronghorn’s eyelashes. Seriously. We also each had binoculars to use all day long.
By beginning our day before sunrise, it enabled us to plot our day seeing the wildlife in their prime habitat at the right time frames. Kevin knows all the backroads and radios with colleagues to make sure you get to take advantage of everything. We saw: moose, elk crossing the street, mule deer, bear cubs playing, a bison herd stroll in front of us, pronghorn, hawks, pelicans, herons.
Better yet than all of the wildlife is Kevin’s vast knowledge. We learned about migration, hibernation, conservation, mating. He answered our questions and posed questions to make us think. He used his botany expertise and introduced us to service berries and choke cherries. We chewed on mint as we went from a lake to our picnic lunch.
My husband and I have already decided that WHEN we come back we are requesting Kevin and the Teton Science Schools.

We had Bobby as our tour guide for two different excursions and he was incredible! We did the Teton National Park and Yellowstone tours. In the process we saw a ton of wildlife, including a wolf pack (through a telescope), bison, elk, ermine, moose, mule deer, bighorn sheet, trout, etc. Any wildlife we didn't see in the parks we were able to see and learn about at the Teton Science School museum. The vistas were sweeping and beautiful, the car was warm and cozy, and the drinks, snacks, and lunch offered were warming and delicious. Especially the breakfast burritos from Cowboy Coffee. Despite all of that, the main highlight of our tours was Bobby and his incredible knowledge of our surroundings. He's able to describe the amazing wildlife and plant life in such great detail and with such enthusiasm that we requested him a second time for our second tour with Teton Science School. His ability to spot wildlife while also driving and teaching is fantastic. Highly, highly recommend them if you'd like to get to know the intricacies of the Teton ecosystem with a fun and engaging tour. Finally, note that the tour is extremely COVID- friendly. Teton Science School goes to great lengths to ensure the safety of both the passengers and the tour-guide.

My son and I did a half-day evening wildlife tour in Grand Teton in early August. Kevin was our guide, and he found numerous elk and pronghorn for us to observe, as well as a moose grazing along a creek bed with several elk. Kevin made the evening very informative by sharing his vast knowledge of the wildlife and their habitats. The van was comfortable and included a roof hatch to view wildlife with the binoculars provided. Kevin also setup scopes for use to view wildlife at several spots. He even showed my son how to get some amazing wildlife photos using my iPhone camera with the scope. I highly recommend this tour if you want to go beyond just seeing some wildlife. It was a truly educational experience learning about the local wildlife and their habitats from a very knowledgeable, experienced biologist/naturalist.

Kevin was a wonderful guide who drove us around Jackson Hole Valley, in a cozy van in the middle of February, to all the best wildlife viewing spots. With his expertise, plus handy radio communication with fellow guides in the area, we were able to see a Moose, Bison, coyote, and Big Horn Sheep all within a couple of hours. He was very knowledgable, answering all of our questions on animals, geology, history, botany etc from our group with ages ranges from 5 to 48. Kevin had a variety of binoculars and scopes for all to use. He also brought samples of animal skins, horns, antlers etc and field guides that the kids especially loved. The van also had pop out roof so if you didn't want to brave the cold or spook the wildlife (yes sometimes we were that close), you could see from inside the van. I highly recommend this trip. It was the perfect amount of time with young kids, and not so early, 8 to noon. Especially if you want to see more wildlife and question whether going on an all day ride to Yellowstone to see possibly no wildlife and just Old Faithful is the best idea. Coffee, hot cocoa and snacks were a nice treat.

A fantastic wInter excursion into Yellowstone, going all the way up to Fountain Paint Pots. Our guide, Rhiannan, was cheerful knowledgeable and helpful. She was also very prompt and attentive throughout a long roundtrip day that began in Jackson. When we reached Flagg Ranch and boarded our modern snow coach, the temperature was 16 below zero. Nonetheless, it was a sunny beautiful day and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute. It was beautiful, with plenty of wildlife and the fascinating surroundings of Yellowstone national park. Our guide's knowledge and engaging personality elevated the experience. The tour is not cheap, but considering the quality of the entire operation from start to finish, including the booking process, our transportation to our transfer point and the Snowcoach vehicle, it was not unreasonable. It was one of those trip of a lifetime days, but those memories will last forever and we highly recommend it to anyone who loves this incredible part of the country.

We enjoyed two expeditions with Teton Science School last week, a Teton wildlife expedition (my husband and I) led by Tyler and a Yellowstone snow coach tour (my husband and I, plus seven friends) led by Bobby. Both guides were excellent - knowledgeable, friendly, and comfortable and fun to spend time with. They provided interesting information in a delivery style that was engaging rather than coming off as a "lecture." I have to give special props to Bobby Pfeiffer, our Yellowstone guide. 12 hours in a snow coach with nine adults you just met is a long day on the job. Bobby made us feel like he was having a great time, while also constantly being aware of our needs, comfort, and safety. To our delight, he even participated in one of our inside jokes involving an item of clothing (Bobby, you know what I'm talking about). Bobby also shared personal stories of his time in the wild that made our trip more memorable and interesting. In a business like this one, having a good sense of humor is as important as having knowledge of the area. Teton Science School gets high marks for both.

#Yellowstone lived up to all it’s hype! We got to see the world famous ‘Old Faithful Geyser’ as a family and it was so special. Millions of people from all over the world come to see her erupt every 90 min for the past 300 years. Yellowstone National Park is closed during the winter from Jackson Hole, however you can rent a snow coach or snowmobile up there with a guided tour. We opted for the snow coach & they provide breakfast, lunch and snacks as well as hot chocolate, coffee and beverages. We also got to see a weasel capture a squirrel for it’s meal and some wild bison 🦬 on the way. As we were leaving to look at a few more geysers, one lone bison came to visit us to make a perfect picture memory! Today was epic and my ohana are so grateful there was a lot of snow that came in last night and all day today❄️. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🎄. I always said one day I’d come back and bring my children after my parents took me. 🥰Day 2 down in the books. It keeps getting better each day!
Mahalo @tetonscience @wildlifeexpeditions and Annalisa for a wonderful and memorable experience. Annalisa was very accommodating and had a wealth of knowledge explaining the plants and trees along the way as well the Ermine we saw and different animals. She had some sample of the bison horn/fur and beaver fur so my kids could feel it too.
She took many photos of us and made sure to communicate about the bathroom stops. The hot chocolate was perfect for my 4 children and coffee for us parents. If you want to see old faithful in the winter, it was worth every dollar…this snow coach tour is the way to go!

Thank you for sharing your first hand experience of a once in a lifetime opportunity to see Yellowstone National Park in winter on a Snowcoach tour with us! Our guides extensive education in the Sciences, including Geology, Environmental, Botany, and Animal habitats and behaviors ensure an enthusiastic, invigorating educational opportunity that we like to refer to as "place based" education.
I am sure your children will remember forever the very special time in Yellowstone that we were invited to share along with you.
We will be here waiting for you to return and discover some new corners of the park along with your family.
Thank you for choosing Wildlife Expedition of Teton Science School.

An excellent trip to Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park from Jackson, Wy. Everything was awesome from the clean, comfortable vans (with large clean windows), the included breakfast and lunch to our knowledgeable, guide, John.
John gave an entertaining, comprehensive, fact filled presentation throughout the day. He covered the history, the geology, the geothermal features, the flora and fauna of the park in a manner that engaged all of us on the trip. As one who is familiar with many of those things, I still learned new information that enriched my knowledge base. He was attentive to everyone’s needs and desires for the trip and accommodated them all.
We arrived at Old Faithful in a timely manner and only waited a short time to see it erupt. We toured two geyser basins, witnessed two other geyser eruptions, saw numerous bison, trumpeter swans, elk, river otters, wolf tracks besides being engulfed in a silent winter wonderland.
It was such a wonderful trip I replayed it in my mind from start to finish several times before falling asleep that night.

We took the wildlife Expedition paid $500 which is too much for what you get. The guide was friendly and did his best to locate wildlife like bears, elk, antelope, buffalo and other wildlife. We did see some bear Cubs, but we couldn't stop to take pictures because others were blocking traffic so we went on to the next area. We were unsuccessful in locating moose, or elk, but saw buffalo and antelope in a Pasture, but noticed that others were there at the other end of the Pasture so we think that the area he brought us to was a go to in case we didn't get to see anything else. Which was the case.

We booked our Teton Science School 3 day expedition trip in January or February of 2016 and requested we be placed on the list for the guide Sarah Ernst. Sarah was an OUTSTANDING naturalist and guide describing to us the unique cultural and geological evolution of the area and its effect on the diversity of the wildlife we had come to see. She kept us on schedule to see the wildlife in the early light of dawn and the waning hours of dusk, getting all the spotting scopes set up and ready to go, even helping us with IPhone photos through the scopes. Our trip left on September 29 and returned on October 1; the unexpected result was the brilliant yellows of the Aspens and Narrow-leaved Cottonwoods resonating against the blues and grays of the mountains and distances- a photographer's paradise. Snow made its appearance on our final day, reminding us to heed the Elk's bugle and leave paradise to the grip of winter. What an experience!! Bull Bison puffing steam galloping down the road at night and an bull moose with an enormous rack guarding his cow down in the willows in the midst of an early evening rainstorm are images that will stay with me forever. Highly recommended.
