I've been here 4 times over 12 years. The museum has several areas dealing with Western history. The gun collection is one of the best you'll see anywhere. Dan Miller has a musical dinner-theater that we've seen several times and we'll see it again next...More

We spent 3-4 hrs here and saw all the highlights we were interested in. Especially enjoyed seeing the actual firearms used in tv shows and movies. A lot of history here.

There is some fantastic art work on display here - The buffalo Bill part is quite interesting but there are some amazing scenery and wildlife paintings here. The gun museum was not open and we were not really interested in staring at guns anyway -...More

Id rather drill my own teeth than go to a museum but this one is incredible. Plan at least a full day and maybe two if you don’t have a lot of stamina. Don’t miss it.

If you are interested in the history of the West, you’ve found your place. The Indians of the Plains exhibit is very informative as is the Buffalo Bill exhibit where I learned much about this man and his life with his Wild West show as...More

Great galleries of Native American and western art -- expected and came through. What was Unexpected was the amazing area dedicated to natural history. Got totally sucked in, learned a lot, and didn't want to leave!

There was an official function taking place on the day of our visit but nevertheless we were still able to look around, relatively unhindered by the tables and chairs set for the event. I was sorry that we didn't have more time to spare. The...More

There are 4 distinct parts to the Museum plus a gallery. The Buffalo Bill part is less about history and more about the showman himself, with the museum's own narrative questioning a lot of the "facts" that he presented. Very informative though. The Gun Museum...More

Cody Trip Report, con't (10 Replies)
Wednesday, June 11th – breakfast this morning was at Sunset House, across the street, and was very good. Good service and friendly folks, too! Next, we went up the street a short bit to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, where we spent the next 4-5 hours. I had ordered tickets ahead of time online and paid $13pp…a great savings over the door price of $18. What a terrific museum! We checked out all 5 museums, but our favorites were the Buffalo Bill Museum and the Plains Indian Museum. Dan...More

Thanks for your report! I love the Museum as it seems you all did too. It is so varied. Even tho you all didn't do some of the activities you thought you wanted, it sounds like you enjoyed what you did. I laughed when I read that you were enjoying the luxury of the hotel after the Yellowstone accommodations. I so understand and did something similar recently myself. Gosh, it was so darn nice! Pam
