I would never give this a 5 up...I know too much of Buffalo Bill's history and it is not good...

I was with Curly Bear Wagner years ago when he re did the Native American part...haven't been back since. That was like in 2004 or 2005

Huge collection of guns and other interesting stuff
Oct 2021
I think this is a must see in Cody. There are five museums in one, and when you pay, you get a two-day pass and frankly, you will need it unless you can stand on your feet for at least half a day. I was pushing my wife around in a wheelchair and that got tiring. We saw the natural history museum, Buffalo Bill, and western art museums the first day. I went back alone the second day and viewed the guns, but not all of them. This collection is so extensive that they actually have pull out glass cases and drawers with extra guns in them that won't fit in the visible displays. I wish I could've made it to the Plains Indian museum as well, but ran out of time.

It truly is the best!
Sep 2021
This is one of the most outstanding museums we have visited in our travels. Housed under one roof, the five museums are full of artifacts, some often seen in museums and some never seen. We especially liked the Buffalo Bill portion of the museum. We knew a little about him but this piqued our interest in finding out more. Such a diverse and interesting person! There was even a video being played of one of his shows! We also learned about Annie Oakley. We were so saturated with information that we left to go to Old Town and then downtown for a drink at the Irma, the hotel he named after his youngest daughter. This was a good plan! We came back refreshed and ready to take on 2 more museums, the art and the guns.

OUTSTANDING MUSEUM IN CODY, WYOMING
Sep 2021
The Buffalo Bill Center was the main reason we visited Cody and we were not disappointed. There are 5 sections to the museum, firearms, art, plains Indians, natural history and Buffalo Bill memorabilia. The museums were all good but our favorite was the Buffalo Bill section. There was even a film showing one of the wild west shows from the early 1900's. We spent several hours there and the admission ticket is good for 2 days.

Not to be missed if you are in Cody
Sep 2021
Although we had been here before it was many years ago and the museum has greatly expanded since then. It's actually five different museums under one roof.
We spent over three hours there and really couldn't see it all. An added surprise was the raptor rehab center there which does two talks each day. The raptor expert giving the presentation was excellent.
The staff was incredibly friendly and informative. Will definitely go again in the future if we are in Cody.
PS If you have any other museum memberships be sure to check to see if they have reciprocal privileges as you may be able to get a free or reduced entry ticket. Even if not, the cost of entrance is well worth it.

Buffalo Bill Center of the West - WOW!
Oct 2021
Just AMAZING! We spent two days there, and actually could have spent more. Not only is it beautifully arranged, but there is more information than one person can consume in a day! The exhibits are excellently done. Just outstanding!

Incredible collection!

Knowing that this is a Smithsonian Affiliate, we had high expectations and it easily surpassed those. This is really 5 museums in 1 building, and I don’t mean just 5 traveling exhibits. We spent several hours the first day in the Cody Firearms Museum, and we don’t even own one! It is just an amazing collection exhibited and explained so that novices like us can appreciate the beauty of individual pieces and understand the technological advances for back in the day, to present time. There are some hands on displays and some video clips testing out assumptions of guns used in movie making.

We paused for a break before visiting the Whitney Western Art Museum. Again, the range of the pieces is expansive and you needn’t be particularly knowledgeable to appreciate what a beautiful collection this is. We weren’t up for doing more as we felt our brains were not able to absorb more that day. The admission however, is good for 2 days, as well as being able to come and go on the same day.

We hadn’t planned to do 2 days of museums but didn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to soak it all in, as it’s not likely we would be back to Cody any time soon. As luck would have it the next day was brisk and super windy, making outdoor activities less enticing than we’d hoped, so back there we went again.

The Buffalo Bill Museum was phenomenal, as was the Draper Natural History Museum which weaves you through exhibits over several levels. Again, the exhibits are wonderfully arranged and easy to understand. Our brain space seemed to max out. Sadly we didn’t even get to the one on the Plains Indians and I know we missed out on a treasure. If you had any interest in any of these area, this is a place you don’t want to miss!

The gift shop also had some truly lovely things related to all the museums and for all age levels.

% Museums in one
Sep 2021
There is a lot to see here. There are 5 museums in the building and they also have a raptor show that lasts 30 minutes or so. There is the gun museum with over 5000 exhibits on 2 floors. There is an art museum, a Plains Indian museum, the Buffalo Bill museum and natural history museum.
There is a lot to see and you can't see it all in a couple of hours. Allow at least 5 or preferable most of the day. It costs $20 per person and that isn't out of line for what you get to see.

Great deal of western history
Aug 2021
Everything you ever wanted to know about Buffalo Bill is in this museum. There is a great display showing all of his contributions to western expansion, his Wild West Show and tons of other memorabilia. There are several separate museums in the complex, including rooms containing thousands of weapons from over the years.

American History.
Sep 2021
A fine museum incredibly well done. Cody, WY is proud of its Buffalo Bill heritage. There are five galleries dealing with Native Americans, natural history, firearms, western art and Buffalo Bill. Each gallery is well appointed and easy to navigate. The native American section is stunning. Amazing experience! Truly so many things to see The staff is friendly and helpful. Well worth 4-6 hours it takes to see it.
