I highly recommend this tour! We only had 1 day to spend in Yellowstone and Dale made it totally worthwhile! He was able to show us all of the highlights, plus many more sites that we never could have experienced on our own. His knowledge of the park and nature is superb! His management of our time in the park, to get the best experience is invaluable. Thank you Dale for making our Yellowstone Experience everything that we could have dreamed of!

I joined Dale recently for Winter in Yellowstone Wildlife photography tour. He picked the 6 of us up at the Bozeman International Airport and headed to West Yellowstone where we stayed for 3 nights. We spent 2 1/2 days photographing wildlife and the beautiful landscapes in the western and southern portion of the park. It was surreal and incredible. We saw lots of bison, foxes, owl, ducks beautiful landscapes. Dale was very knowledgeable and shared with us tips to capture beautiful photos. After West Yellowstone, we headed north and spent 4 nights in Gardiner. Yhe vegetation and landscapes was different. We saw lots of wildlife. Dale enhanced our skills. The Mamouth hotsprings was incredible. The Lamar Valley was very beautiful. We took photos in a snow storm. It was really out of the world.

This was our first trip to Yellowstone and we debated on driving a self guided tour or using Experience Yellowstone. I can only say the self guided tour would have been a big mistake for the 2 of us for a number of reasons: 1) we started out in Deadwood drove to see the Little Big Horn Battle Site then over to Cody Almost 12 hours including stops. I really wasn't up to more driving. 2) we only allocated 1 day to see the major Yellowstone attractions which I would say are in the Lower Loop tour 3) as the driver I would not have been able to enjoy what I was seeing and also be a safe driver 4) parking even in the shoulder season (we were there last week of September) could be a problem. Several times our guide, Dale, let us out to see something while he drove around due to parking shortages 5) he kept us on schedule so we saw A LOT without feeling rushed. 6) our guide Dale was ON TIME and prepared which is hugely important to me. 7) the van was comfortable and a small group of 7. 6) the other guests and Dale took lots of great pictures of me and my wife together. This was a huge plus as selfies don't always turn out so good and stopping someone else takes time. 8) Dale was able to spot wild life and other parts about the park that we would never have noticed. Things to think about: 1) A long day starting at 6AM and back at hotel at 6:15 PM. I was worried that I'd get tired but the company and sights made the time fly. 2) Please be aware that you will be at elevations over 8,000 feet. Even though the days in Cody were in the upper 60s by the time we got up the mountain the temperature was 23 degrees. I wore hiking boots, wool socks, jeans, a performance t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, polartec vest, polartec jacket, gloves and a hat. I was warm and comfy. There were others that got cold including my wife who really should have had an extra layer for the legs. Those tight pants things didn't cut it. My jacket came off about noon and the vest and gloves about 2:00PM. It was a sunny day. If in doubt LAYER you can peel them off and leave in the van. I took along a backpack with some gum, a few snacks, some extra water bottles (though Dale provides water) BATTERY packs for my phone (and I needed them) an extra broad rimmed hat that I was glad to have in the afternoon, sunglasses and a back up camera as my iPhone X glitched a couple of times. Dale provides binoculars to borrow for everyone, a light breakfast around 10:00AM and you have lunch around 2:00 PM, on you, at the Old Faithful Lodge right after seeing Old Faithful erupt. You will have time for shopping at the gift shops and there is neat stuff in those shops. Dale is a great guy and very knowledgeable. For pee breaks you might have to speak up. There are plenty of places along the way you just have to let Dale know outside the usual scheduled stops. I'm not the shy type as I guzzle water due to the elevation and overall low humidity which sucks the water out of you. Cell service is spotty/non-existent in many places. In retrospect this was well worth the money and I highly recommend it. We hope to go back and will be using Dale for the other 2 tours he offers. Hope this helps!!!

This is a tour of part of the lower loop and part of the upper loop of Yellowstone, returning to Cody by way of the northeast entrance. This was less of wildlife and photography tour and more of a tour of Yellowstone sights and scenery. The tour was mostly very nice but had its shortcomings. We stopped at most of the major sights. The scenery was fabulous and magnificent at times. We were able to see a couple grizley bears in the distance. We saw a herd of buffalo in the hundreds. There were swans in a river and we stopped to view mountain goats, but could not see them much from more than a mile away. Some people saw eagles and hawks, but you had to be on the side of the van where they were to see them. The van is comfortable and provided a smooth ride. It seats 12 so not a lot of distance between people. I wish the windows were larger so I didn't miss the views us. Stops were short and quick without much time for lingering, although we did see a lot. Lunch was perfectly fine prepackaged from a local grocery. Our driver Dale is friendly and knows his geology, history, and wildlife. Unfortunately the microphone was left on the entire trip, even during side commentary where we learned far too much about Dale's personal opinions, which was rather distracting. I can recommend this tour for good ole boys and obediant women, but not for people who believe in climate change, who like affirmative action, for independent minded women, Asians, Californians, and anyone who dislikes negative references or tasteless jokes.

My 2 sons, in their 40s, and I took both the Wildlife and the Lower Loop tours. This was our first time to visit Yellowstone Park and we wanted to ensure that we spent our 4 days on the right stuff. We took the two 12 hour tours in the first 2 days and then spent the next 2 days investigating the park on our own for the specific things that interested us and took time for a hike, etc. Our plan worked well and the valuable investment in these tours was key to making it great.
The park is huge; takes about 4 hours to cross it either way. Dale Franz was our personal guide and he did an excellent job of showing us most of the major features and educating us on the history, geology, wildlife, and fauna. His new 15 passenger bus was roomy and comfortable and gave great vantage point for viewing, with a center aisle and the back seat was removed for cargo and supplies. He provided a good continental lunch beside the beautiful Yellowstone river. Both of our tours were not filled to the maximum of 9 people which gave us even more space and our own windows.
The cost is not too much considering the value from his almost 30 years of experience and his education and his photography skill which were generously shared with each of us. We normally exited the bus at every major feature at the exactly the best spots to view and for his excellent explanation of it and of the wildlife that was generally within eyesight. He also used his professional spotting scope to let us see the animals at a distance. He also does week-long photography tours for those who are interested in that.
I saved the best for last. A very large and angry grizzly bear charged our van as it just came to a stop at one location. Dale estimated that the bear weighed about 600 pounds and he had never seen that behavior at such a close distance. We were never in danger, but Disney doesn't have anything that realistic.
Our trip was a great success and Dale Franz was the reason.

My husband and I visited Wyoming in September. While there we stayed in Cody and had scheduled two tours with Dale of Experience Yellowstone - one day of the Upper Loop and another of the Lower Loop. We cannot speak enough of the two tours Dale provided us. He is so knowledgeable and passionate of the area and we had two very fascinating days. He knows the area well. We saw so much. If visiting Yellowstone and you want to thoroughly see the park with an experienced person, this is the company you want to deal with.......worth every penny! You won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic on a scale of 0 to 10 we would give this tour a 20. We went two days and we were never disappointed. Dale knew exactly where to stop to provide us with perfect pictures of the wildlife and scenery. I first considered the cost but later I knew it was worth every penny.

This was a terrific tour. Dale is a wonderful guide, very enthusiastic, very informative. We never felt rushed and he even put in overtime to make sure we saw Old Faithful erupt! Dale is very knowledgeable about Yellowstone, the history, the animals, the geology, the plants, etc. We would not have been able to see as much as we did in one day without Dale's experience. Love the small group (max 9), everyone gets a window seat and binoculars. Continental breakfast and a very filling lunch was included. I highly recommend Experience Yellowstone Tours.

Wold definitely recommend this tour. He picked us up early morning but long drive to Yellowstone. He knew all the back door ways to get anywhere. I said I had been to Yellowstone twice but this time saw lots I had not seen before. He had a sack lunch for our group and was just right. The drive back from Yellowstone to Cody was breath taking. Make sure have camera ready. It was dark when we went in and beautiful when we came out.

Dale was right on time to pick us up at our motel. He had breakfast and lunch. A good driver eager to show us wildlife. He knew where to find a mating pair of bald eagles. He took us to numerous thermal areas and could tell us the temperature and depth of most. All together we seen 13 different live animals and 2 road kills and one red fox with a snow shoe hair in it's mouth. He was able to answer all of our many questions and made sure we seen old faithful do her thang. The all day excursion was full of wonder. Can't say enough about Dale and his love of his job and this area. We would highly recommend this tour to see the hot spots of Yellowstone.
