Our grandson saw the upside down building with the dinosaur coming out of it and immediately wanted to go check it out. I of course checked the reviews. Most were very negative. He however kept talking about it during our stay at a waterpark. So...More

For years I’ve wanted to come here. I never really knew what it was. It was the biggest waste of time! DO NOT even bother. All you did was walk around. Nothing to see or read

Thank goodness this was *free* with our stay at Mt. Olympus. It's not even worth the time it took us to walk through (which was like 15 min). It's just empty rooms with sparse furniture on the ceilings. There was a very short section that...More

Thank goodness it was only $5, this was so dumb but my 7 year old wanted to go because of the dinosaur on the outside. There are no dinosaurs, only rooms that are supposed to look like the White House. Best part, making fun of...More

This attraction is such an epically pathetic waste of time and useless that my 10, 9 and 9 years-olds offered to pay me back my the $21 it cost the four of us to get in (They BEGGED to go in). They said they wouldn't...More

My 11-year-old daughter was interested in visiting this attraction every time we drove by it. The outside is rather impressive looking with the upside-down White House design. Interior has similar set-up with the rooms being replicas of the White House, but each room is upside...More

The outside drew us in and to be honest it was weird. We were out of the rain and had fun so I wouldn't say it was a waste of money.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. It is cool on the outside so definitely take a look at it. It’s only $5 and they advertise it as a daily special. However, they have the sign up every day so it’s kind of false advertising. It’s a...More

4th of July Trip Report (Restaurants and Secrets) (16 Replies)
Just returned from the Smokies. We stayed at Mtn. Laurel Chalets. We have used them several times before and I would recommend them. No hidden fees and all mainteneance and other sevices are taken care of quickly. I have probably lived in Gatlinburg over a year of my life so my review may not be typical BUT at least it is experienced. (Secret 1) Things to do........ Other than the park. The aquarium is worth seeing. It was very crowded on 3 July, but what do you expect? ...More

If you haven't tried it already on your next trip you should have a meal at The Peddler, the absolute best service anywhere in town and the meal is usually delicious. The meal I had at the Foothills Milling Company was so good it made me cry, a first. Neither place is cheap but you get what you pay for and if you only eat there once a year it's no big deal.

I'm looking for a room in midtown and the Travelocity site has a "Top Secret 4-star" for $231. There is little information to track down which hotel this actually is. Anybody have a clue? Thanks.

I do - it may be the Park Plaza - oh no - I just consulted CARNAC the Magnificent and he thinks it is the St. Regis - or it could be the Muse or the Algonquin. The reason you have not received any replies is because until you give them your CC number you will not know the identity of the place - I always like to book with hotels directly so if I have to change plans or cancel I can - sometime the price may be a few dollars more - however I like to be in control. See you and good luck. Poppa

Travelocity - "Top Secret Hotel" - No discount at all (1 Replies)
I got sucked into the "up to 55% off*" promo for Travelocity when I needed a hotel in Medford and did not really care where it was. It said Three Star for $87.00 and while I did not really expect I was getting a 55% discount, I figured there was at least some discount. It turns out my "secret hotel" is a Comfort Inn, marginally a three star. But worse, the Comfort Inn web page has the exact same room for $85.00 a night. As a result, I paid and extra $2.00 to have a marginal three star hotel...More

I often stay in Comfort Inns and other Choice Hotel chain places (Sleep Inn, Clarion, Quality) and have always found the hotel website prices to be equal to or better than those "special" rates promoted elsewhere...with the AAA and senior rates to be in accord with what you could get through those organizations. I usually also call the hotel in question to be sure there isn't a better deal than I could get on the website. I've found the rates to be consistent and reliable.
