Ran by the Wi. State Historical Society this is where the tourist business began for WI. Dells. You're able to look at some of the stereoscopes (pictures) that H.H. Bennet sold and started the tourist rush to WI. Dells.

I had been inside the gift area of this museum many times, but never had the time to get into the actual museum and studio. When I found out that the Wisconsin Historical Society was not charging admission anymore, I thought I would make time to give it a shot. The museum traces the life of H.H. Bennett and the... More

In the 1800's with photography aids, such as photo shop, H.H. Bennett created photographs that many pros struggle with today. A must see.

We finally got to visit as we usually miss their opening hours on our evening strolls. The small museum is very professionally done and much larger than I would have anticipated. Tremendous amount of photos, with the photo studio set up to the period. Free will donation for the museum. Gift shop has a great selection of interesting Dells/WI memorabilia... More

Free admission, although donation recommended. This museum takes about 30 min to go through and is a very interesting look at the life of H.H. Bennett and the histoty of the Wisconsin Dells.

I learned that the innovative Mr. Bennett was the originator of capturing photos of tourists, and was responsible for bringing more tourists to the The Dells. (When we're handed photos of ourselves at the end of a roller coaster ride, we need to thank H.H. Bennett!!)
