The Waukesha County Museum has begun a complete building transformation, we are working to rehabilitate the historic courthouse complex we occupy in beautiful downtown Waukesha. Due to construction the Museum is temporarily closed to daily admission. Please visit our website for updates on the project, including project re-opening. Special viewings are always a treat

For being a small town museum, they always seems to attract good special showings. And their lunch & learn series is especially interesting.

There is art displayed among articles of historical interest. The guides are very helpful. Some areas are for children to explore and create. Very nice! Very interesting.

We went there on May 18, 2016 but there was a sign on the door indicating that they were closed for renovations. I also called them and was told that were closed for renovations but may open partially in July depending on the progress of the renovation work.

We were in town for a family visit and in between family gatherings we decided to take our children here: so they can learn about the town their mom and dad grew up in. They had so many questions and just being there, talking about our hometown was a so nice.

This is waukesha, WI...what more can you ask for in a small Wisconsin suburb outside of milwaukee. It was cool to read about the history since I grew up in Mukwonago (@ 20mins from Waukesha) and I also lived in the historic part of Waukesha in my dads old Victorian home. I had a car but preferred to ride my... More

This is an average museum because it gives you the history of the city, but doesn't really appeal to kids. It's is okay for people who want to know more about the city. I don't really like it. But again it's good for if you like history.

If you want to know more about Waukesha's wonderful history, this is the place to go. Really laid out well and packed full of useful and interesting information. This is a wonderful place for individuals and families. They also have an archive section on an upper floor, so if you want to research your own family history you can do... More

Les Paul has been one of my favorite personalities for fourty years. I did not know of this museum or exhibit until we moved to waukesha. The tour is self guided. Three floors of interesting history of waukesha. Love the old pictures of homes and businesses.

I stress little because not all rooms were filled on all the floors but still was informative the price was fairly reasonable.if you're into guitars you would know about the Les Paul guitars. That was a great exhibit. get your picture with... More

We had been hoping to make it here on one of our trips to Wisconsin ever since we learned about the opening of the "Wizard of Waukesha" exhibit devoted to the life of native son Les Paul. We were not disappointed! The historical society has done a lovely job with the museum including many local items of interest in this... More
