My kid was dying to take the ferry. I wanted to see Washington Island. He's too active for the cherry train. So I decided to "invest" in the car ferry. Delighted we did so. I have no way of comparing if it's cheap or expensive -- but you get your car to discover the island, which would take a LONG... More

All of the ferry staff were very friendly. We used the ferry to get to Washington Island with our bikes. It was a beautiful day and a great ride!

We launched out of Gills Rock at 8:15 and it was a very windy day. Enjoyed the waves breaking over the front deck of the ferry and the boat swaying back and forth. Never felt unsafe or that the crew couldn't handle the situation. We changed course and had to go on the back side of Plum Island to make... More

The ferry ride over to Washington Island was relaxing. The ride took about 30 minutes. My advice would be to get there early for the ferry if you go during the summer or on weekends.

We took the ferry to Washington Island and also the island tour. Although the day we went was cloudy and chilly it was really enjoyable. The trip over and back was kind of rough and choppy, but only about 30 min each way. Once we got to the island we met up with out tour guide for the tour. She... More

Cost $80 round trip for auto and two couples. The island is more remote and if you want to spend the day there, it is a pretty saf area for riding a mopead or bycicyle, however, not much else was worth the trip for our group.

Took ferry to Williams Island. Car with 4 people cost $80. Both coming/going very timely with minimal wait time. This was at 1 pm on Wednesday and return about 4 pm. Well run operation. Sunny, beautiful day. Sat on upper deck during the crossing which lasted about 30 minutes. Nice having a car on the island to select what you... More

We took the passenger ferry (vs car ferry) to Washington Island and rode the trolley tour of the island. This gave us a good idea of what was on the island and we felt we had seen the high points. To really spend unlimited time, you would want to go back with your own car since this is a large... More

This is the car ferry. Last time I traveled was 2 weeks ago. There was a festival on the island and it was a beautiful day as well, and it was the first time in 20 years I ever encountered a "one hour plus " wait to board. It wasn't the ferry line's fault, they were running all their boats,... More
