Closed Tower, Fun Climb to the top of the cliff
May 2021
It was a fun hike to the top, but unfortunately the Mountain Park Lookout Tower was closed due to structural concerns. From what we could see the views would have been gorgeous, but the surrounding nature made up for what we missed.

Closure
May 2021 • Couples
The lookout tower is closed, don't bother. The stairs to the tower is open, not much to see. It was a beautiful day.

TOWER IS CLOSED
Sep 2020
Don't bother to climb the steps leading to the tower. It is closed indefinitely due to structural problems. Very disappointing.

Tower closed
Sep 2020 • Couples
Climb up the 100+ steps to find a tower closed due to structural problems. Followed a path around only to find out it comes to a big field, turned around and went on to next attraction.

Tower closed indefinitely due to structural issues
Jun 2020 • Family
You can still walk up the stairs (100+) to the base of the lookout tower, but the tower itself is closed “indefinitely” because of structural issues. Can’t see much at the base of the tower, just lots of trees. There is a trail beyond the tower but we didn’t go far, not sure where it leads or how long it is. Disappointed, would have been awesome to see the view!

Not safe for small kids
Oct 2019
NIce views and pretty easy climb. A little disappointed in the lack of safety barriers in the tower part. Did not feel comfortable letting kids roam around on top part as there were lots of foreigners taking selfies and not paying attention and one accidental bump and a child could easily fall since there is a huge gap from floor to railing. Stairs as well.

Way too rough for me.
Jul 2019 • Couples
My husband went to the top, while my knees gave out half way up the thing. Sheesh there are a lot of stairs. I sat with a gentleman j his 90’s as we both waited for our loved ones to come back down. The whole experience was a positive for me. He was gracious, and it was another great experience under our (one, anyway!) belts!

Nice hike
Aug 2019
Worth the trip up. Nice view of the island. The hike isn't that far, but many steps when you get closer and quite an incline. If you have time and don't have physical limitations, it's a nice little hike.

Don't overlook this FREE activity

Well constructed flights of stairs take you to the top of the bluff. Another set of well constructed flight of stairs take you to the top of this tower. For the amount of steps, it's a relatively easy climb--we witnessed small children, elderly folk, those with hip and knee ailments ascend to the very top. Beautiful view. We were surprised by the lack of signage or warnings, so please exercise common sense in this little piece of the forest.

No 360 views but certainly an amazing view! So glad we stopped. Didn’t take very long even though there were a few steps.
