Easy walk up about 120 stairs and then about 60 more on the tower. Even our 3 YO did it. You just need good knees. Pretty view at top. Nice ATV walking trail leading of from the tower.

Well constructed flights of stairs take you to the top of the bluff. Another set of well constructed flight of stairs take you to the top of this tower. For the amount of steps, it's a relatively easy climb--we witnessed small children, elderly folk, those with hip and knee ailments ascend to the very top. Beautiful view. We were surprised by the lack of signage or warnings, so please exercise common sense in this little piece of the forest.

No 360 views but certainly an amazing view! So glad we stopped. Didn’t take very long even though there were a few steps.

You can still walk up the stairs (100+) to the base of the lookout tower, but the tower itself is closed “indefinitely” because of structural issues. Can’t see much at the base of the tower, just lots of trees. There is a trail beyond the tower but we didn’t go far, not sure where it leads or how long it is. Disappointed, would have been awesome to see the view!

We spent about 30-40 minutes here. There is a small parking lot and picnic area (I think there was a port-a-potty there too). First you climb ~120 steps to get to the tower and ~72 more to get to the top of the tower. There isn't a 360 view, but the view you do see over the island and out to the lake is nice. I recommend it if you have done everything else first that you really want to do and still have a bit of time before you have to get back to the ferry or if other things are closed (for early arrivers to the island or people staying on the island overnight). I imagine it would be pretty for sunrise/sunset but I'm not sure if there are hours posted that would prohibit this.

It's several steps to climb and reach the top of this lookout tower. You're above all those trees,. This will be best for the fall season because of fall foliage, but for the summer, nothing special.

It's a hike- someone coming down said there were 125 steps up the "mountain" and then another 50 to the top of the tower- people with fear of heights might think twice on a very windy day, the tower is sturdy but small and the views of the lake and surrounding islands is the best vantage point the island offers. Make the effort!

Made a stop to check out the views from atop the tower.
Not terribly high but sits atop a hill so that you are just able to see over the tree tops.
Lots of steps to get to the base of the tower. Some seating and a picnic table available at the tower. More tables and grills available near the parking lot.
Nice quiet area for lunch. Not too physically demanding. Rest/seating areas along the way up the steps to the base of the tower.

The climb to the top is good exercise but should be given serious thought by anyone with mobility issues. We were disappointed by the view from the top of the tower because it is 75% obstructed by the surrounding trees. The only view is the quarter mainly to the north-northeast, with part of Rock Island visible and the northern Michigan islands (St. Martin and the Summer Islands, I believe) and possibly the mainland coast beyond that. Except for some farm fields immediately below you, there really isn't much to see of Washington Island itself since it is so heavily wooded. We had a clear sky day and thus had a great view, as abbreviated as it is. Having a set of binoculars with you would add to what you will see. The view would be spectacular if the tower was another 10-20 feet taller.
