This was a for-profit bar and play house but went belly up. Now a non-profit acting company called "The Groundlings" puts on a wide variety of productions; Shakespearean to modern. They have a wine bar when open for a play. Good local drama.

Washburn has needed a classy place for entertainment for a LONG time, and StageNorth really fits the bill. No dance floor, but tasty cocktails! Good sound and lighting and an intimate theatre for actors and folk artists. It might be difficult to see/hear a funk...More

There is a long narrow reception area, with bar. Nice place to gather before a show. I would avoid the balcony. The railings are low and it's scary.

One would not expect this modern bar/stage facility to be in Washburn after seeing all the historical Brownstone buildings...but it has a killer view of Chequamegon Bay from their lovely outside patio...or the second floor seating! Have taken in quite a few unique shows on...More
