Our cave and dune kayak tour landed on a windy, rainy day. My wife and 3 sons were nervous to go out on the water, but faced the challenge anyway. Our two guides did a great job easing the nerves, and showing they were monitoring the conditions of our trip and taking every precaution for our safety. We paddled in the rain and waves, and it was an adventure my boys will never forget.

My husband and I have never been kayaking before this adventure. We loved being out on Lake Michigan on a beautiful weather day, launching right from the beach, getting to go inside caves, and seeing people jump off Cave Point.

Our guide (Isaac) was amazing, He took pictures of us in the cave, using his phone, and then texted the photos to us. He did that for every kayaking couple in our crew (7 tandem kayaks). I imagine that would be hard to do with a larger group, and the caves aren’t always accessible due to high water levels. So, while these were things that we enjoyed, it might not be available all the time.

It was so fun kayaking! Our tour guides were very knowledgeable about the lake, learned a lot about the caves from our tour guides. Before we took off, they did a little demonstration showing us the basics of kayaking, which was very helpful since this was my first time kayaking. Definitely worth it.

My family and I booked a trip for the cave and dunes kayak tour. It was fun and informative, however, halfway into our kayak, I asked our tour guide if we will be entering the caves, she told us the water was too high and we wouldn't be able to. Then, I proceeding to ask why we were not informed of this because it was a disappointment to book a cave and dunes kayak tour without entering the caves. There was no apology and warning that this situation might happen. All it said in waivers and through emails was "Tours go out in rain and fog! We reserve the right to reschedule or move a tour based on unsafe conditions like high wind & wave, as well as thunder & lightning". My family and I are very disappointed.

We went on a guided kayaking trip that left from Cave Point Park. It was a beautiful day and the water was smooth so we could easily paddle on the lake and go into the caves. The guides were very informative and entertaining and made the excursion lots of fun. The only issues we had were that the group we went out with was rather large with approx 19 people with about 10 boats. It became a bit tough to navigate our way in a big group without hitting anyone's kayak. Also, there was a lot of time spent waiting for each kayak to take their turn going through the caves. Maybe if the groups split up, it would have been easier. Also, in order to access the kayaks, you have to walk over rocks on the shore. That proved to be a bit challenging especially walking barefoot. If they had the kayaks in a better place, maybe over a sandy area it would have made it easier to access them. The caves themselves were pretty small but glad we got to see and paddle into them nonetheless.

Not bad. Not great. Not what I was expecting. I was expecting to be actually exploring caves. Not paddling on Lake Michigan looking at them. We did paddle near one of the caves. And was able to paddle up next to the wall. The other cave that we were expected to be able to explore the water level was too high to go near. But that would have been the extent of the cave *exploring". To me that's not exploring that's just looking at...

I was also expecting to look at the shipwreck. Which I was later told is no longer part of the tour.

All in all it was about 2½ hours of kayaking on Lake Michigan. Which is itself not a terrible time. But when you're expecting to be exploring caves and looking at shipwrecks doing only paddling is not nearly as fun.

The staff was nice and overall it was a decent time, but definitely not worth the price. Also if you're unlucky enough to be set up with a group of people that aren't strong paddlers... expect to be waiting a significant amount of time for them to catch up to you..

My husband and I did a morning kayak adventure out to Cave Point. The first part was great, water was a bit choppy but overall not bad. However on the way back it was getting windier and the water choppier. The one guide took a few people in, and the other guide who seemed new decided we needed to go check for a ship wreck. she used google maps to help find it because she hadn't found it before. we were already cold, wet and tired and had no desire to go find it. We kept going farther into Lake Michigan in the non-sea kayaks and I did not feel safe at all and felt like we were going to capsize. I was happy to finally be back on land. We would have turned around and gone back if the other guide had still been there, but didn't want to tip over halfway back and have no one there to help us.

Overall, it wasn't a bad experience but the last half of it was not enjoyable at all.

We chose a package of the sunset kayak and ziplining. The 3 that went ziplining had a lot of fun. The guides were good and fun, patient with the novice family with young children we were grouped with. The sunset kayak tour was enjoyable. One teen wanted to paddle board and we wanted an easier kayak experience as we only kayak and paddle board occasionally. The guide/owner checked on us throughout the time to make sure we were making progress. The instructions said to wear clothes that can get wet. You definitely get wet due to the waves. He explained that there aren't currents and tides, but the wind creates waves that can be powerful and guided us in to easier paddling. This was not a light paddling, float all of the time; you do have to work and use muscles you don't usually use. Highly recommend this company and will try these experiences again.

We just experienced an excellent 2 hour kayak tour of the caves along the lakeside coast of Lake Michigan with Door County Adventure Center. Our day was marked by perfect weather, easy kayaking, and two interesting caves along with a search at the end for a shipwreck a bit further off the coast.
The two guides (Lauren and Cole) were polite, professional and very engaging. They handled a myriad of personalities and abilities right from the outset of our 10 AM tour. Each facet of this short adventure could have been merely good, but those two talented young people made our experience great! Their personal anecdotes, Wisconsin factoids (even though neither are from Wisconsin), and silly puns made the times when we waited for slower paddlers zip by quickly. They should both get raises!

This was an awesome experience! We did the kayak cave tour in Sturgeon Bay, WI. We were a group of 3, two adults and an 8 year old. We were given a choice of letting the 8 year old paddle with one adult while the other adult went solo or we could put all three of us in one kayak with the 8 year old in the middle. Our guide, Spencer, was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable about not only the sport of kayaking but also about the geographical history of the area.

Doing this cave tour really gave a different view of the coastline on Lake Michigan. It was something we will definitely remember. If you have the time, definitely check this out.
