The owner and the employee there were very welcoming and attentive. They both personalized the items by explaining history behind any object I inquired about. I enjoyed the ride out there and my brief visit. The only downfall is the the store is in an old barn and is very moldy smelling. There is also a distinct cat urine smell that probably can't be cleaned out. It felt like I was in a museum, because the items were so unique and historical too, but the whole business is so old school, like how small businesses used to be run 50 years ago- personal dealings from merchant to customer. Note: The store is closed for the winter, and opens back up in May.

A Respite

I wasn't sure that this place really existed as my GPS sent me on a wild goose chase but suddenly we found it. The owner, Marion is a spiritual mother that travels yearly to India and Indonesia to bring back coveted pieces of art and craft and each piece has a story with it. The collection is housed in a 4 1/2 story barn, and Marion will holler to invite you to come up wherever she is at. It was very peaceful just to sit on the floor and listen to the tales of a wise crone.

It was a perfect antidote after a day spent at the "House on the Rock" and Taliesin which made us kind of crazy. Energy was outflowing and encompassing our surroundings......go visit and take your time even if you get lost on the way there.

Global History Lessons for a Day
Jul 2015 • Family
My three sisters who were visiting from Colombia and I went to Global view for an incredible shopping experience.
We found the place (a barn) located on a peaceful road with Buddha statutes greeting you. The inside is full of treasures neatly arranged, from India, Nepal, Thailand and other regions. Marion, the owner, makes a point to deal directly with the crafters to help them sell their crafts at a reasonable cost.
Inside the store, you'll find beautiful furniture pieces, clothing, scarves, and more.
Marion is very knowledgeable regarding all the history of all the pieces she has in the store.
She greeted me and my sisters with a big smile and open arms. We felt at home and in a strange way, very connected with her and her environment.

Global View is housed in a barn and has several rooms. One sells women's clothing and scarves. One sells mediation aids like Tibetan singing bowls and malas. One sells books and cd's on topics like Buddhism, Hinduism, meditation, etc. Another sells fiber arts like batiks and rugs. There are a lot of wood carvings - Buddhas, elephants, etc. There is jewelry. It's almost like a museum and shop combined. Even if you end up not buying anything, it's so fun to walk around and browse.
