Four of us saw Mary's Wedding, a play I have never heard of with a dreadful-sounding description. As sometimes happens, the most dreadful sounding play turned out to be absolutely fantastic. The script was incredible; however, a lesser theater company would've butchered it, I'm sure. As it was, it was artfully performed with a wonderful set, interesting sound effects, and... More

What an outstanding play! Laura Rook and Nate Burger are so very talented. Their acting ability transports you in time to WWI and pulls you into each scene and conversation with few props. I look forward to seeing them again next summer!

I had a wonderful time picnicking with friends before the play in the outdoor picnic area. They enjoyed the food provided while I enjoyed my packed vegetarian lunch and wine. The play was quite enjoyable. The actors were top notch, as was the stage. If you are considering going here, go, I urge you!

We have been traveling down to the APT for fourteen years; it is a much anticipated highlight of every summer/fall season! This time we went early and ordered one of their picnic options, which was FABULOUS! We ate in the picnic area and enjoyed the entire experience! The plays are wonderful, both matinees and evening performances. This is a family... More

The luck is living in the country in Wisconsin and having a world class theater a half hour drive away. My wife and I have seen dozens of plays here, both in the outdoor theater and the indoor Touchstone. We usually do the Touchstone in the hot months and outdoors in the cool ones. The Touchstone usually does plays with... More

American Players Theater is a theater lovers dream. What could be better than fantastic classical theater in a beautiful outdoor setting? It is hard to come up with the right words to describe one of my favorite places. Read the reviews and then come to Spring Green and see for yourself why this is considered one of the finest classical... More

The APT is a theatre (actually two) located in the Spring Green area of Wisconsin – near Frank Llyod Wright’s resort and Architecture School. The APT has two theatres one an indoor theatre (Touchstone), and the other an open air theatre (Up-The-Hill Theatre) in the woods but you do not have to worry about long walks (unless you want to... APT is a jewel in the Midwest. Put it on your bucket list. Very high quality productions with professional classical actors. Plan a picnic lunch or check out restaurant options in Spring Green. We have been visiting for 20 years and find the yearly choices excellent. Our most recent visit was Shakespeare's King Lear. Set in modern garb, the play... More

We attend a performance here at least semi-annually since 1999. Two hour drive from Milwaukee area. Shakespeare or other classic playwrights. This past Sunday An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde. We love the Up the Hill venue. Have been to Touchstone once since it opened. Outstanding acting company. The great outdoors. End of story.

If you are anywhere in the vicinity of Spring Green, you MUST make APT a priority visit. A magical wooded backdrop for the outdoor theater. An intimate setting for indoor performances. Different plays in each one. Whether Shakespeare, Beckett or Wilde, you will never be disappointed by these performances. This year's must see: "African Theater Company Presents: William III"
