We enjoyed each of the buildings in the settlement. Our guide Susan Smith gave a great tour of the Anderson House.

Absolutely love history, so loved Corner of the Past Museum. We spent about six hours here on a day without the farmers market and saw just about everything. Tour of the Victorian home was guided by docent, Susie. Remainder of tour (other buildings) was self guided but there are listening devices with site by site narratives. It is a true treasure, rich with the history of the settling of the area and growth of Sister Bay. Susie was happy to answer additional questions after self-guided tour. It is worth far more than the price of admission ($5) and we were able to add a donation-which you can drop at various collection points. Bring a lunch if you love history.

Several buildings are open to tour. $5 per person. They provide you with a hand held speaker to use in the different buildings. You scan the tip of the device over a medallion on the wall of a building and it starts a narrative. One could spend an hour or several here. Very interesting history of the Scandinavian settlers’ early days.

Most people would pass this by thinking it was just another historical museum, but don't. Plan on several hours to see everything that is offered here. You will start in the main house where the docent will tell you about the family that lived here. From there you will be able to go to the different out buildings on the site on your own. Each has an explanation in the pamphlet you will receive. You will see the barn, chicken coop, pickers cabin, blacksmith shop, saw mill, scandanavian cottage and more. This is a true historical gem that was saved by the vision of one man and continued by a local historical society that was formed to preserve it.

We weren't sure what to expect when we came across this lovely restored family home and other buildings with many interesting artefacts. An exceptional and friendly curator welcomed us and she explained the historical background to the house and site. The old harmonium is still in perfect playable condition.I was privileged to try it! An insight into the hard existence the original families had was evident as well as an appreciation of the community spirit that still exists today. This is shown by the support and dedication of local people into the creation and preservation of this site. Visiting from the UK this was an unexpected treat. The hot apple cider and "snicker doodle" after certainly finished our visit off.
