This is a lovely place to spend the afternoon or the day. the beach is small but nice. There is a lot of stairs to get down to the water, but it is worth it. There is a path way to walk if you can't do stairs. This is free to enjoy and the had out some porta potty's for people to use.

Was here Sunday morning for the sunrise. Not sure how crowded it gets later in the day, but it was mostly quiet and beautiful. There are a lot of stairs or a long ramp to get to the beach. There is a children's playground at the top and at the bottom. There's also a nice boardwalk at the bottom with benches to enjoy the view. Secluded and serene. Worth a stop to relax for a while.

We enjoyed our time at the park and it was a great destination for our family to gather. We recommend it to anyone looking for a family outing

I've lived in Milwaukee for over three years now, and I feel as though I've been missing out by just discovering this hidden gem. I am not really a fan of Bradford Beach...too crowded and dirty...and looking at the lake but not wanting to swim in it is just depressing. Enter Atwater Park, one of my new favorite places in the city.

Just a short drive north, Atwater is worth the trip. Beautiful, not crowded, and CLEAN. A wonderful beach with more families than hardcore day drinkers. The water is welcoming and there was plenty of room for us to set up our towels and picnic. We spent a fair amount of time in the lake and had a wonderful afternoon. I would highly recommend coming to Atwater Park. I can't wait to go back.

Fair warning: the stairs to get down to the beach are pretty steep and quite the climb, so if you have small children or aren't a fan, you may find them to be a challenge. But they're definitely worth the hike.

Beautiful! Water so comfortable. Met several shorewood residents who were so proud of their park. Thank you!

Atwater Park offers great year-round views of Lake Michigan and is also home to a sculpture created by Spanish artist, Jaume Plensa. The sculpture adds to the aesthetics and lends the small park a vibe akin to those large city centers. For those with children, there is a playground at the top of the stairs, as well as the bottom. If anyone is looking for a workout, I highly suggest running up and down the 100+ stairs leading to the beach. They are steep and brutal. You will feel the burn! The beach is open to swimmers in the summer, but there is not a lifeguard on duty. The beach is also home to local surfers who catch lake waves all year long. I’ve been told the fall months are really the best time to surf. The one drawback is parking availability. The park is located in a suburb of Milwaukee and parking can get tight during events or hot summer days. Otherwise, it’s a great experience with a little something for everyone.

Nice beach with soft sand. Not too windy. Trek down to the beach was interesting with a toddler walking. Bring a stroller for the long winding ramp and a friend if you have multiple children.

Just recently visited Atwater Park & Beach and it is wonderful! But don't be like me and remember to bring your towel and swimsuit because the water is so warm!! It's small but so worth the trip. The slopes are covered with wildflowers. You can either take the stairs down to the beach, or, take the winding pathway (easy to go down & up). Will be back.

A little smaller than the other Milwaukee beaches, but still a very attractive park. One minor drawback is on street parking only... some of the larger parks have off-street parking. Did not go down to the beach was just walking around on the upper level. Several porta potties were available on the first level down from the upper. Hand sanitizers happened to be empty in all porta potties when we were there... maybe due to the fact that it was not officially open yet (Memorial Day?). As others have mentioned nice elevated view of Lake Michigan. Has a small play area, typical design for kids on the upper level.
