About
The flagpole and memorial can be visited at any time. Flag Facts: 70- by 140-foot flag is the world's largest free-flying American flag. Tallest flagpole in North America--nearly 100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. 400-foot flagpole weighs approximately 420,000 pounds. Over 500 gallons of paint cover the pole. 11-foot diameter at base tapers to 5 1/2-foot diameter at top. Three pendulum-style tuned mass dampers reduce movement and vibration. Designed to withstand a low temperature of -42 degrees Fahrenheit. The 9,800-square-foot flag, which weighs 340 pounds, is more than four times the size of the average U.S. home. Each star is nearly 3 feet across and each stripe is over 5 feet high. Acuity is proud to dedicate the Veterans memorial at the base to all who assure our freedom and to those that continue to serve. We owe our gratitude and thanks for their service and sacrifice. There are more than 750 inscribed pavers at the base of the pole that list the names of every Sheboygan County Veteran killed in the line of duty. A full list of names along with a map with the location of each can be found in a free handout at the base of the flagpole. The flag may be taken down temporarily during times of maintenance (please check our website) or severe weather. The flag will be lowered to half staff during official observances.

My daughter drove me to Sheboygan on Friday, June 25, 2021, we live in Waukesha County. Sadly the flag was not flying. The grounds is a beautiful place to visit. Not sure if I will be able to return as I am 83 years old.

A truly impressive site to witness! A stunning tribute to our country's symbol of freedom and to all those who have served, died and continue to live protecting it!

Seriously, the #6 thing to do in Sheboygan is to look at this ridiculous flagpole? It's a FLAGPOLE. If you're a patriotic size queen, this might be for you.

My kiddo (age 3) was excited to see this "GIANT" flag! It's a cool little thing to see. The booklet by the entrance tells you all the names of the honored veterans the flag is dedicated to. Near the flag is a pretty little pond with clear water and smooth pebbles. It's a great spot to relax and reflect.

loved this place and what it stands for visited it in sept . It is massive you don't realize how big it is till your walking up on it. It also has a nice little pond area there also. The tiles on the ground surrounding it has names in them and they have a remembrance board there too. Not a hole lot to look at but nice

I'm glad I looked online for points of interest in Sheboygan, b/c I may have missed the significance of this massive flag. It is the largest one in the world flying a US flag, and although we could see it around town, and even out on the fishing boat, it was worth it to drive up and see it up close. If you lay on the ground and shoot your camera up, you can get some awesome shots of your family with the flag in it above them!

Because the flag pole is SOOOOOOOOO tall the extremely large flag looks small. Flag only looks big when at half mast.
