Well above the usual collection of junk and antiques that many communities call their museum. Very low key, covers many aspects of the city and area. Three floors, well lit, no exhibits or descriptions behind reflected glass or at knee or ankle level. Admission is free, but donation is available and well worth it. There is no docent however if you have questions, but that is a small thing.

I wasn’t planning to stop into this museum, but I just stumbled across it while walking through Racine. I only had a few minutes to check it out, but there is certainly a lot to see and read about here. Oh and entrance is free ! Photography is not permitted though.

Easy to get thru, good history of Racine, great archives, unique Racine gifts, And the exhibits change every so often. Great sports memorabilia, including the Racine Belles.

This is a very nice museum/historical society and we are glad we stopped in. We learned a lot about the area, which we hadn't known before. Who knew there was a car called the Mitchell .. built in Racine?? Not us! We were greeted immediately upon arrival and we told how the museum was laid out, and what to look for in each area. That was really helpful for our self-guided tour. The museum itself is free, but they gladly accept donations. There is plenty of parking available, both on the street and in the parking garage, but you have to feed the meter in both. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat in the area, check out Kewpie's. Great prices and food! You won't be disappointed at either stop.

It is definitely worth a stop as there are some interesting displaying inside the museum. As a tip, bring some change to pay the parking meters (or figure out how to pay with your phone). If you park in the garage nearby, the cost is 30 cents per 50 minutes.

Nice way to learn about Racine in this free museum located right on Main Street. You'll recognize many of the businesses begun here.

When you are in Racine, it is well worth a stop, locals should too as there often new displays. Great local history and there is no charge. Plan on about an hour or more to see; local industries, astronaut Laurel Clark exhibit and Racine's very positive part and The Underground Railroad exhibit is worth a visit in it self alone, just to see this and many others.

An interesting place for searching out and learning local history. Archives of Racine life in the past with facts about the community. Admission was free, but parking close by is not. A small museum that is clean and easy to walk through, usually not crowded, which is a plus in my opinion. There are Racine themed gifts for sale The staff is pleasant and helpful. A great place to see Racine history for all ages.

I have passed this museum hundreds of times and never went in. From the outside it looks like an old church. When I went inside I was amazed. Three floors of exhibits to see and interact with. My children enjoy the conversations that the volunteers will engage you in. They are very knowledgeable and are so glad you stopped in to see them. I was very surprised. Several times a year they have special activities for children. At Halloween ,there was a scavenger hunt to find things in the museum. Located 1 1/2 blocks east of Lake Michigan you can take a walk to see the harbor, Laurel Clark water fountain (great for kids to cool off in), Lake Michigan and the library. Situated at the end of the main street shopping district you will find many shops, restaurants and the RAM (Racine Art Museum) all within a short walk.
