Racine has one of the finest American crafts museums in the land. Oddly, the locals (mostly) fail to recognize the exceptional collection housed downtown in a former bank building, repurposed to delightful effect by a leading Chicago architecture firm. This museum is worth a detour (especially when coupled with a stop at one of the preferred kringle bakeries (Bendtsen's, Larson's or O&H/Danish Uncle).

An art lovers paradise and an art dreammer's passion! So very proud to hae this fabulous Museum in Racine! The home of the PEEPS Art Exhibit held each Spring...RAM as it is called is a beautiful place in a gorgeous building in the heart of downtown Racine! Lots of visitors from the area and around the state as well. This is one of the TOP places to view Crafts from around the world! Nice GIFT Shop with treasures galore, and they participate in the late night openings held during the First Fridays evenings events scheduled religiously in the city of RACINE!

RAM recently received a huge collection of mixed media and every piece is a delight. I love this museum. Two floors of art and this exhibit has everything. Ms. Boyd had an incredible eye for contemporary art pieces and we are lucky to get to view it.

Not much here for what you pay to get in as far as I'm concerned. Go to the free museums in Kenosha, much more fun for kids too! You can ride the electric street cars, splash in the fountains, visit the Jelly Belly factory. If visiting the area, I would recommend Kenosha over Racine. If looking for a good beach, Silver Lake is wonderful!

Beautiful museum. We bought a couple of books by author, Mark Hertzberg; one that covers the SC Johnson Research Tower and the other that covers a local privately owned Frank Lloyd Wright home. This is a great place to visit for culture!

We went in one day as we were walking downtown. We were surprised at the limited art on display and the very large special art collection that was just passing through. Good to call ahead if you can to see what collection is in town.

What prompted our first time visit was the annual Peeps Show. Those wonderful Easter marshmallow candies are designed into an art show. This was the 8th year. Totally adorable. Especially if you grew up eating Peeps it was so fun to see what people did creatively with them. You got to vote for your favorite. After that we viewed their teapot collection on display when you enter the museum. Fascinating and beautiful. These are works of art; not what you use to make tea in your home. There was another large gallery on the main floor and a really large gallery on the second floor. I can't remember what the exhibits were of but they were very well done. Cost for adults is $5. If you are over 62 the cost is $3. We spent 90 minutes there and had the best time. We got our art fix without being bored out of our mind by visiting a multitude of rooms. The galleries were very well presented. There was a docent to answer questions / provide information if she saw you taking interest in a piece. There is also a gift shop on the main floor. This was our first time. It will not be our last. I believe their exhibits change 3 or 4 times a year. For $3 apiece and 90 minutes of our time it was an enjoyable, relaxing and reflective time to take in art.

RAM is a nationally renown museum highlighting artistic crafts and jewelry. The core collection grew from Karen Johnson Boyd's personal crafts collection. The museum has attracted the works of nationally famous craftspeople and has grown to become the nation's leading crafts museum. Drop in and then have lunch at one of the area's local restaurants. Not to be missed!

This museum is excellent for those who appreciate the creative spirit of craft art. There are different types of work that can attract many different interests people may have. The museum is both local, national and international with the work it displays. The building itself is also a marvel. It is a must see!
