We spent time in the gift store/visitor's center, learning about the history of Villa Louis. The tickets were a bit pricey. We wished we could've walked the grounds without buying tickets.

We visited Villa Louis while en route through Wisconsin & Iowa. The house has been carefully restored to its early 20th century state and is a fascinating snapshot on the development of the trade and social history of the area. Not to be missed.

Knowledgeable tour guides start with a history lesson about the river, the natives, the battles fought here, and wealthy fur trader that built and maintained the Villa Louis mansion. The walk through of the mansion is guided by knowledgeable ladies and gentlemen in period costume....More
