The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a historic estate with art galleries and display gardens, located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The historic Paine estate serves as a multi-faceted museum for learning and inspiration. The museum preserves the mansion, surrounding architectural structures, and many of the interiors as they were created by founders Nathan and Jessie Kimberly Paine. Selections from the museum's art collection, much of which was acquired by Nathan and Jessie, are featured in the many rooms and settings of the estate. Outdoors, the Paine maintains and enhances numerous display gardens as "galleries" of horticulture with varied designs and thousands of plant specimens. In addition, the museum presents a wide variety of changing art exhibitions, from historical to contemporary, within the estate's galleries and gardens. The Family Discovery Gallery, located on the house's lower level, offers "hands on" activities about architecture, art, and gardens for people of all ages.

It was raining today, so we decided to tour the historic estate. Beautiful structure and gardens. It gave us some ideas for our garden at home! There was a small admission and we could self-tour or join a guided tour. We walked around on our own and we're able to see everything. Audubon art was featured.

This remarkable home is more of a castle than a home. Exhibits are very tastefully done and the tour of the home is so educational and interesting. The gardens around the home and in the back are just beautiful and one could spend hours visiting the beauty of this great find in Oshkosh.

The Paine Art Center and Gardens just does thing right. The grounds a beautiful and very well maintained. There are markers explaining many of the plantings and you often find volunteers helping tend the plants while you visiting. They are most informative and obviously enthusiastic. Inside the building the displays are extremely well done and always worth your time to... More

We visited The Paine to see the fabulous John James Audubon prints and found a lovely local story as well. We enjoyed both. The home and gardens offer a glimpse into the history of the area. The woodwork and finishing details in the house are exceptional. Only down side for us was how small the venue is- we would have... More

While I enjoyed touring the home and seeing the special exhibit of Audubon prints (too bad the Paine family never actually lived here), the gardens were a disappointment - small and ordinary.

We've gone twice in the past month and love this gem of Oshkosh. They're featuring some of the original prints of JJ Audubon and the setting in which to view the prints is wonderful. The mansion and it's history are interesting. The construction materials used are just stunning. The girls like the basement, which features a mini children's museum. The... More

We came here to see the Audibon display on American birds. First of all the mansion and it's gardens are beautiful! Just walking around the gardens and through the mansion is well worth the 9$ admission. We arrived just in time to take in a lecture on Audubon given by a docent. We would have been happy to see Audubon's... More
