The Paine Art Center and Gardens is a historic estate with art galleries and display gardens, located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The historic Paine estate serves as a multi-faceted museum for learning and inspiration. The museum preserves the mansion, surrounding architectural structures, and many of the interiors as they were created by founders Nathan and Jessie Kimberly Paine. Selections from the museum's art collection, much of which was acquired by Nathan and Jessie, are featured in the many rooms and settings of the estate. Outdoors, the Paine maintains and enhances numerous display gardens as "galleries" of horticulture with varied designs and thousands of plant specimens. In addition, the museum presents a wide variety of changing art exhibitions, from historical to contemporary, within the estate's galleries and gardens. The Family Discovery Gallery, located on the house's lower level, offers "hands on" activities about architecture, art, and gardens for people of all ages.

Whatever the reason you visit Oshkosh, the Paine Art Center and Gardens should be on your "to do" list. The visiting exhibits are outstanding and the building and grounds are as much a work of art as the exhibit's they hold.

Stopped to take the tour after the Faire on the Green. Very beautiful. Lovely house, with free admission and wonderful to see.

What a great display of Christmas, trees, decorations, nutcrackers. They tell the nutcracker story via displays in the differently decorated rooms in the mansion. Beautiful and interesting for all ages.

My only regret about this place is that there was no gift shop to buy some photographs or copies of artifacts. The gardens were beautiful! I would like to return earlier in the year to see the tulips. The video at the start of the self guided tour is a must! What a gem that is probably missed by many... More

First visit to the Paine won't be the last. First.... Rooms in Blooms...I loved it but had nothing to compare it to. I was also very interested in the "Tinsel Art" exhibit..something completely new to me...will definitely go back for every season...beautiful gem in Wisconsin. .

Just O.K. I wasn't really impressed. Each of the paintings had a floral arrangement made by a florist in the area. I thought many just looked like they were thrown together.

I will start by prefacing the title of my review. The Paine often has different events going on, and often they start on Sundays. The museum itself is an old house, previously owned by the Paine family; lumber barons of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, who used the Fox River as a transport system for their thriving business. The history displayed in the... More
