About Osceola & St. Croix Valley Railway
The Osceola & St Croix Valley Rail Road operates from May through October, departing from the Osceola Depot with alternating tourist runs to Marine-on-St Croix, Mn (11:00) Dresser, Wi (1:30) & again to M. "Specials" include Brunch (11:00) & Dinner Trains (5:00) on weekends, Mother's Day & Father's Day Brunch & Dinner, and Fall "Color Trains" with meal service. Brunch and Dinner Service is "First Class", with china, silver and fresh linens ready for use in the old "high dollar" tradition. We strive to meet the standards when service was an art and every journey included a trip to the dining car. We operate charters for community groups, corporate activities, church, graduation & retirement dinners, weddings, receptions and more. All equipment meets FRA standards for operation, and we make every effort to accommodate guests with physical issues. However, please note that certain pieces of our rolling stock are non-ADA compliant due to age and historic nature.

Riding the rails, like this, is a rare thing today. Take your family, your children and friends. A tremendous effort like this is a true reward in our Country. Really, really nicely restored and maintained cars and people who know the railroad will relate their experiences to you. Listen carefully. These folks are a disappearing breed. Go while you can, while they're still there. Beautiful depot loaded with wonderful memorabilia. We came to ride from Oklahoma and plan to return Sooner rather than later. One review said "unimpressive". OMG, what rock did they come from under. This is a gem. Not like Silverton, but never the less, a gem. Thank you, and God bless these volunteers and people of vision. I am holding back tears because I know what this takes to accomplish. I spent over 5 years of my life working on a similar, but not as great a project. This is where the steel meets the rails. Plan and reserve if possible. Check and mark your calendar now, before you can't. From Oklahoma with love. We visited in Sep. of 2018 but that was not a choice on the date list.

This was a fun ride. It was a great meal and something different to do. Get there on time so that you don't hold other people up -- we had a very late couple on our train who came running last minute.

The company cannot change the fact that we missed fall colors by about a week. Last weekend was probably gorgeous but with all of the rain, there was little color. I was shocked when I showed up with how old the train was. In some ways, it was really cool because it was clearly an authentic train that has been in use for awhile. However, usually things are restored. It just wasn't...nice. The seats were uncomfortable, the cars very bumpy, and it was super narrow and crowded to get anywhere. The snack car was crappy and they didn't sell any alcohol. I had a totally bizarre experience where the man at the snack cart said my total was $25.50 when I handed him a $20. I gave him another ten and as he was getting my change, I said that didn't seem right. I asked how much waters were and he said, $2.50. I said there is no way I spent that much. I had to add it up for him. My total was $16. He overcharged me by $9.50! He never apologized and just said, "Oh I thought you had more?" (Nothing else was on the counter). I then reached back for the extra $10 and he snatched it back and said it was his. I said, "No, you just told me it was $25.50 so I gave you an extra $10." Again, didn't apologize. I'm not sure if he was trying to purposely scam me to keep money in his pocket...honestly, I can't think of any other explanation because even if he's bad at math, how are you $9.50 off of a $16 bill? Anyways, the scenery was pretty, and it was super kid-friendly. The shuttle ran frequently to the fire station, but even that was annoying that we couldn't park at the location...I'd recommend a Taylor Falls Boat Tour instead. Was 100 times better. Oh, I forgot to add. I dropped something on the floor and went to pick it up. Filthy. I am 100% sure they have not cleaned the floor all season.

The scenery was beautiful. The conductor in our car told us a lot of the history of the railroad which made it even more interesting. It was a comfortable trip. I think the best time to go would be for the fall colors, but we were happy we could take one of the trips.
