The New Swiss Village is an interesting historic site. Each of the 12 plus building in a pleasant location is nicely displayed with artifacts well explained. There is a guided tour offered but a self tour is fine. It's an easy walk in a circular path. We asked a question at the exit and the curator gladly talked with us... More

Interesting to see how the Swiss ended up in New Glarus. Several buildings to look in. The volunteers were very willing to answer any questions.

Hi All, New Glarus is a small town in Wisconsin with about 2000 people. It has some buildings from the late 1800s and also a Swiss Historical Village. The village itself is not very big but has some quite interesting things. It is a nice place to hang around for a day. Overall it was a nice experience.

Real eye opener on the living conditions of the early settlers to wisconsin. Very fortunate that I was born 100 years after they got here.

We visited the Swiss Village on a whim. Our timing was right, and we were offered the guided tour which does not cost extra. Marie was a wonderful guide who obviously takes great pride in her heritage and her community. She explained how New Glarus was founded and told about each building as we walked through them. I'm glad we... More

Understanding the damage caused by the Industrial Revolution to a small town that had been self sufficient for centuries was thought provoking. Seeing how a good part of the town packed their possessions to travel to a new country was a difficult thing. . Having to learn new trades to support themselves made the experience much more difficult. That they... More

By having a surviving relative of the original founders of New Glarus, our tour of the Swiss Village was made into a more than memorable experience! Our narrator was a wealth of information and his heart is full of love for the history of this lovely place called New Glarus.

This was a good introduction to the town of New Glarus, There was a teen age docent who did a really good job in taking a group through the buildings and explaining items. Entrance was $9 per person with a children's fee less but I noticed that there were several families that were turned off by the price when we... More

Very informative village which combined the old with the new. Most of the buildings were replicas, but some of the pieces in them were original. It was interesting to learn how the community of New Glarus has adapted with the times and gone from a farming community to a tourist attraction.

This was a very nice way to spend an hour or so in New Glarus. A nice history of New Glarus, WI. Fairly priced and our guide was very informative. I suggest that along with the guided tour you might want to walk around by yourself just to explore further.
