We stopped into the Chamber of Commerce building to find out where we could find a place to buy a troll t-shirt for our troll loving kid. They had a few but they recommended stopping by the Grumpy Troll for troll T's. There are maps and other info you can get there so it is worth a visit if you are looking for things to do. You can find out where the trolls are!

Some towns have their quirks to draw tourists. Mount Horeb's thing is trolls. They are all over town, making it fun to drive through. Stop at the chamber of commerce to get the handout map to make finding the trolls easier. Fun stop as you are passing by.

Driving through southwest Wisconsin we chanced upon this Norwegian town of approx 6,000. It is a spotlessly clean town with a few cute restaurants and a great ice cream shop. To our surprise it is the self appointed Troll Capital of the world. Cute place to kill some time. Check out the Cave of Mounds while you are their.

I walked in to the chamber, I was the only visitor. I asked the employee behind the desk, "we are visiting this area with our children, 16, 12, 9...what is a must see?" Her response: "wow, that"s a tough one...they might enjoy the yarn store."

Really?!!!?

Typical smaller town festival. Crafts, food, local area known for trolls & Norse food. About 3 blocks long in their downtown area.

We made a special drive through the town just to see the trolls (we read about them in a magazine at Deer River Resort). I read the story behind the trolls and how the freeway by passed the town and out of it came a town of troll statues to get the traffic back. What is more important is going through the town we did stop at the McDonald's for food and WiFi which would have not happened without the trolls. We saw about three or four cool trolls on the main strip.

My wife and I drove to Mount Horeb so we could park and ride our bikes on the Military Ridge Bike Trail. The parking lot dedicated for people using the trail was completely full of construction workers vehicles. They are building a new Duluth Trading building and all of the workers park their cars in the lot. What are bike riders supposed to do? That lot is dedicated for trail users!!!

We stopped here to get the layout of the town and what to see. They had some old shirts on sale and naturally my wife had to look. The staff was friendly and gave us lots of ideas on where to explore, find the trolls and where to eat. The town should be greatful to these people that work here.

We stopped here to get basic information and the staff was very helpful. They suggested places for us to go, as well as places to eat they thought we would enjoy. One suggestion was to go to Blue Mound State Park, as we were told it was a great place for a sunset, watching from the tower. We did try that, but the bugs were awful, so unfortunately we weren't up to sticking around for the view. We received various pamphlets for local attractions, as well as a map to check out the trolls. They also have the bike passes needed to ride the bike trail, so we purchased those there as well.
