ALNC, as they call themselves, has excellent nature programs for kids. Kids take field trips there during the school year and they run excellent run outside with the wind in your hair camps that teach ecology and nature facts.

I came here as part of a Master Naturalist program, but other visitors included Girl Scouts and families. Lots of interactive and fun exhibits plus a beautiful facility. We experienced an amazing hi-tech program, showing a very large lit globe, that demonstrated projected worldwide results of climate change. Our group was impressed. Unfortunately we didn't have time to walk the... More

I've lived in Madison for several years and have not gone to this center. It's awesome! I think I enjoyed it more than my kids. Really easy access for kids and usually not busy. Trails were sloppy the day we went so wear rubber boots!

And don't miss Science on a Sphere, a huge rotating globe with a... More

A very nice place to get outside and commune with nature. The visitors center has some interesting exhibits. A good place to take young children. Our daughter had her wedding there as it fit her outdoor rustic theme. A good place for a small wedding in good weather. The meeting hall worked well for dancing, drinks and cake. We rented... More

The Aldo Leopold Nature Center is a facility which educated folks about the environment. There is a beautiful building and they sponsor many programs aimed at familys during the year. They also have programs for home school groups and schools.
