In an age of nondescript suburban chain movie theaters, the Oriental is worth visiting to see whatever might be showing, often art house or foreign movies. The lobby is ornate and a great photo op, and the theater itself is even more beautiful. Make sure to see a show in the main theater. Great popcorn, too!

I don't know what sabers86 is talking about ~ the Oriental is a going concern and one of the absolute best, best, bestest things in Milwaukee. When you go to a movie at the Oriental, the show starts as soon as you round the corner and see the exterior and only gets more spectacular as you proceed inside to the... More

It's worth the price of admission just to see the ornate lobby. Such a throwback to the golden age. They sell cocktails and beer and wine with normal theater food in the lobby. Only three theaters, comfy seats. Not for you If you are looking for the brand new megaplex experience.

The elaborate decor of the lobby alone is worth the price of admission. But the main theater takes it to another level with dramatic lighting. Even the two additional screens do a credible job of imitating the extraordinary decor of the main theater, The Oriental is part of the Landmark chain which specializes in exceptional films. And if you are... More

This is by far my favorite place to watch movies in the Greater Milwaukee area. It's not a state-of-the-art mega-plex, but rather a historic art house theater. The ornate main theater is a must-see for anyone visiting Milwaukee. Be sure to arrive a few minutes early for a show on Saturday nights to enjoy the organist playing. The theater's architecture... I got there early after walking up from the lake for my matinee. It was beautiful and air conditioned and so classic. They made me a mixed drink and charged my phone in the back. Above and beyond. I relaxed on the couch with my drink then saw an indie film. What more could you want?

Old style movie house 2 screens - ornate architecture right down to the tile floors in the restrooms. Best popcorn ever and yes REAL butter! Ahh now that's a movie theatre.

Great selections for the discerning film enthusiast are paired with an amazing atmosphere of this classic cinema. This place is FANCY, and respectful patrons often dress in the same caliber. Before each screening, the theater manager personally addresses the audience to introduce the film, and highlight other titles showing on the cinema's 3 screens. Through the decor, service, and your... More

I saw this delightful Japanese animation, subtitled in English at the Oriental. The Oriental has a beautiful, ornate, spectacular interior which evokes a sense of old-world splendor. Screen is large, seating is excellent, and sound outstanding. The popcorn at the concession stand was sold in lavish portions. A must for Eastside goers!!

This is probably my favorite movie theater. Decorated with an Asian motif, the decor inside is really amazing. The large main theater has had the areas under the balcony split off into two smaller theaters, but it was done with great care and all three theaters are comfortable and beautiful to look at. Don't miss the popcorn, it is far better... More
