    More than just beer..
This park has so much more to offer than just beer. We aren’t beer drinkers so we skipped that area. The park itself is beautiful. There are picnic tables, a playground, a lot of green space for playing bags and frisbee, buble bikes to rent, board walks, stone paths and trails that run along the Milwaukee River with a water fall in view. To walk along the river you walk past the beer garden and down steps. The river is so beautiful especially in the fall surrounded by colorful trees. We visited in October and the huge Salmon were spawning. Many people were wading out in the water fishing. Of course there is the nice beer garden too. We had a wonderful time.

Best City Park Beer Garden in Milwaukee!
One of our very favorite spots for a beer and entertainment. Great place to watch people - all sorts. Families and dogs everywhere. Great Hofbrau Bier on tap with authentic pretzels from Munich. Great food to go along with your beer. Along side the river with nice views of the rapids. Full entertainment schedule is posted on their website. Really a great place to sit and relax. Should be reopening soon after the covid lockdown.

    America's Best Biergarten
Americans forget, too easily, that drinking doesn't have to be an entirely "adult" activity. The Estabrook Biergarten is the most perfect and successful attempt to recapture the social potential of the Milwaukee (or German) Biergarten culture. The Biergarten is located inside Milwaukee's best-in-the-nation park system (144 parks and winner of the 2010 Gold Medal for Park Management). City planners and local entrepreneurs worked together to create a prefect mix of factors to ensure a wonderful experience. The Garten itself is located along Milwaukee's vaunted Oak Leaf Trail, a 96+ mile bicycle trail that forms the backbone of the city's Emerald Necklace. Nestled in between a baseball field, enormous playgrounds, a dog park, a skatepark, and the forest trails along the Milwaukee River, the Biergarten is a perfectly sited place to enjoy a beer with your children. The Garten has quickly become a staple for Shorewood locals, who come together with their families to down a few liters while settling a game of bocce, softball, soccer, or frisbee. A one-amp band provides live music (usually some good Wisconsin polka), while remaining quiet enough for the park to avoid a single police call in its first two years of operation. The Biergarten is actually run by a Bavarian who acquired a Hofbreuhaus license. This means that the Estabrook Garten serves the same Weiss, Dunkel, pretzals, bratwurst, and German sausage one might find in Munchen itself. The operation has in fact been so successful that several more Gartens are springing up in other Milwaukee neighborhoods containing county parks. Prost!

We stopped here for lunch on a Wednesday and practically had the place to ourselves. The food menu was very limited. We ordered brats, beer and a large pretzel that we shared. Everything was very good and the prices were reasonable. The had 4 types of Hofbrau beer, a local IPA, a cider and soft drinks.

We were glad we went but would probably go in the evening if we return to see what it’s like when it’s livelier.

Visited on a Friday night.

Though a bit pricey for what you get, the atmosphere helps make up for it. We loved the vibe here, with all the families and friends hanging out, playing games, eating and having a beer.

The beer was very good, service was quick and though they had a limited menu, what was ate was great.

One thing I don't get is this token system for the mug deposit. If I bring back a big mug to get my deposit, why do I need a token too? If I lose my token does that mean you won't take back the back the mug and my $5, so I get to keep the mug? I'll have to try that next time.

Parking was plentiful and close, which was awesome!

We parked at the park and then biked to the lakeshore (which was gorgeous!), when we got back to Estabrook Beer Garden we had a brat, a beer and a pretzel. So delicious. There was a polka band playing that was lively and fun. There were a lot of families with kids and dogs. It was festive and lovely. Such a great ending to a great bike ride. The memory of the day will get often revisited during the long, cold winters. A perfect day with simple pleasures.

What to do on a a Monday night? How about trivia, music and beer! Hungry? Brats and Bavarian pretzels available! Next time I would pack a picnic dinner since carry in food is allowed.Plenty of parking, playground for the kiddos picnic tables and umbrellas, & decent bathrooms. A stairway leads down to some nice waterfalls and a walking path along the river. A great evening....Skoal!

We've been here as a nice stop on the bike trail, and we've also been here with our dog. Sometimes they have music too. Recommend the Large Pretzel. Cash only. Right next to the river / plenty of seating.

And if you have time, bring your dog to the nearby Estabrook Dog Exercise Area (DEA) --- it's off-leash so only bring your dogs that enjoy running around with others.

The beer garden is located next to a river and the oak leaf trail. It's an excellent place to stop for a beer and various bar food items. Make sure to bring cash. Close by is a dog park, frisbee golf, and hiking trails along the river.

The Estabrook Beer Garden is one of the places we recommend for anyone visiting Milwaukee.

It's open during the summer and early fall so check their facebook page to make sure they're open before heading up.

Things to know:
If you bring your own mug they'll fill it for you.
If you need to use one of their pint, half liter and liter mugs there is a $5 deposit that will be refunded when you return it.
There is a children's play area within site of the beer garden area so it's very family friendly.
The front of the building serves beer and food.
During busier times on the weekends a back bar area is opened that only serves beer.
You can bring your own food.

The folks from Old German Beer Hall in Downtown Milwaukee (Old World Third Street) worked with the county park system to make this authentic German bier garten in Estabrook Park. HofBrau beer on tap, delicious food on the grill and great scenery all make for a great time.

Fun place to spend the summer. It is the first public beer garden in America in nearly a century. beer, brats, pretzels, and music. This is a nice place for people of all ages to come together enjoy nature, a great beer and make new friends. Due to limited choices, you are very welcome to bring outside food to picnic. A family favorite of ours. Live music!
