I've gone to Summerfest at it's current location since 1972. Back then, it was little more than gravel and some makeshift stages. Now, it's a permanent festival grounds with modern facilities. Summerfest is the largest of the festivals held there spanning a week and a half, always around the 4th of July. It is by far the best value to... More

As a DJ, it's weird that I loathe crowds. I like them when I'm entertaining them, but when I'm on the other side I get extremely annoyed and anxious! However, my son really wanted to go to Summerfest this year. He's 11 and is in his "live music" phase, which is awesome! The best thing we have done is went... More

Summeriest may be the biggest and best known, but this Lakefront location also is home to IrishFest, PolishFest, GermanFest, ItalianFest...you get the idea. Also concerts and other events. parking can be an issue (and expensive, depending on the event) but there is plenty all around. When the weather co-perates, it can be as perfect a place as can be found.

I have gone to these fair grounds for decades. I could walk it blindfolded. it is laid out nicely to listen to music / attend stages, walk the grounds and get food. What else do you walk. Toilets. They have plenty of those too if you can find them. Some complaints I have is more the people there, not the... More

This is our third time attending a day of Summerfest, and our first with 2 kids (aged 1 and 3). We loved it! It was a busy day, and the crowds weren't horrible. The kids loved the playground, and, as always, the venues themselves were pleasant.

The venue was nice and a great location, but we went for the Summerfest, and I couldn't believe all the smoking EVERYWHERE. They should have designated smoking areas. Also a concern of ticket vendors badgering patrons to buy tickets from them. Most accepted "No" well, but there was a male that was badgering a group of young females, and I... More

Summerfest beats the Taste of Chicago by far. The crowds are good, security tight, restrooms clean and stocked, clean grounds, organized shuttle bus services and a variety of music and food. However, I had to search for a recycle bin each time I wanted to dispose of a water bottle, pop bottle,or beer can. Recycle bins were few and far... More

We went to Summerfest there and it was very nice except for all the smoking with such a large crowd. The grounds are very well kept up.
