Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee Wisconsin. We hand-craft award winning distilled spirits in limited quantities using old world methods and traditions which we believe result in a superior product. We’re a bit of an anomaly in the spirits business - we actually make our own products! We’re a handful of people devoted to the craft of distilling and creating the best distilled spirits possible. As Wisconsin's first distillery since prohibition we are anxious to share our unique products and look forward to meeting people who appreciate high quality craft distilled spirits. Give us a try and see for yourself how unique these hand crafted spirits can be. We are pleased to be able to open our distillery to the public everyday for tours. During our approximately 1 hour tour, visitors will learn about our award winning products, how & why we make them and receive a flight of five products to try (complimentary soda is available for non-drinkers).

Our tour guide welcomed us, learning our names and making the experience warm and personal. It was a great opportunity to learn about the history of distilling in Wisconsin. We got go get close to touch the equipment - with appropriate warnings to keep us safe. It’s a fine way to spend an afternoon in an environment where you are welcomed as friends or family. It’s worth saying that I’m not usually a fan of spirits. This experience will stick with me as it opened up a new world of taste. By all means taste the spirits but make sure someone is safe to drive if you come in a group.

Went to the Friday 6pm tour at GLD and had a blast! Our tour guide was engaging, funny, and well versed in the distilling process and Great lakes history. An hour was a perfect amount of time to taste and learn. Great location close to dinner and other bar spots after the tour also.

We had the 2pm tour on Saturday, July 24th. We had a large group and everyone enjoyed and learned a lot. The tour guide was great and presented the history and process of Great Lakes (and alcohol in general) fantastically. Thank you for the great time!

When we booked the tour, they didn't mention to us that there was a private event happening so we weren't able to spend anytime in the restaurant area before or after the tour, in fact the tour was abbreviated because of it but yet we paid full price. The tour was interesting certainly - learned alot. The spirits were not all that great though. Personally preferences I'm sure came into play. I would recommend going on the tour if you are interested in learning a bit about the process.

The whiskey was OK. After a day of drinking local beers I found the whiskey to average. The price point was a bit high for me for something that tasted similar to other distilleries. I did not like the Dirty Helen. Will try the gins and brandy next time.

Went to visit Great Lakes Distillery with a couple buddies for a bachelor party. Arrived early and enjoyed manhattans and old-fashions. Right on queue (tour start time), Ross took us down to their warehouse for a thorough and detailed tour, explaining the history of alcohol in America, how Great Lakes got started, and how they make their product. Ross was incredibly knowledgeable and was a great tour guide. Enjoyed 6 of their offerings and was able purchase more in the gift shop. Would definitely recommend to check out!

Andy was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable about the business and history. He was entertaining and you sampled 6 different spirits. The drinks at the bar were good and there is a gift shop attached. You were able to get up close to production and not view it behind glass as was the case in some other tours I have been on.

The distillery tour was personal and geared toward spirits novices and the advanced alike. Plenty of opportunities to get questions asked and answered while learning about their products. Great Lakes Distillery offers some fun and unique twists with ingredients and barrel types for aging spirits. Learning about those was interesting. The tastings at the end give a great opportunity to experience the final product of those fun and unique twists!

Great Lakes Distillery offers an excellent educational opportunity for curious tourists and their 2PM tour and tasting is the choice way to kick off any other event. I now understand and can appreciate the differences (both in taste, and distillation process) between spirits. While you are there be mindful that you may realize you really want to bring home consumable souvenirs.

Our family of four (all over 21) had a tour to ourselves, so our guide was able to tailor the tour to us. He spent extra time with us, answered all our questions, told us interesting stories, and taught us about distilling. We were able to taste everything we wanted to, and brought home thoughtfully distilled spirits that we enjoyed tasting immensely (10 bottles among us). I even bought a bottle of aromatic gin, and I don't like gin. So be careful, or you may spend as much as we did!
