We stopped here for a little break to enjoy the beautiful gardens. The whole area was very well kept up and had a large variety of plants and flowers. Best of all, it was free! The location right on Lake Michigan made it even nicer.
Just a fun, relaxing extensive garden by the lake. Very uncrowded - you may be the only one (s) there in fact. Very nicely done and with interesting architecture buildings. Nice to unwind and also for kids to see. View of Lake Michigan is spectacular....More
We enjoyed walking around the grounds. Due to the cooler weather this spring/summer, the flowers weren't in full bloom, but it was still nice walking around the gardens. It would be beautiful to see in full bloom!
My husband and I have been going there for ages. Every time we get out of town visitors we take them here. The lawns are lush and the hug flower beds are immaculate. It is a very relaxing way to spend an hour or more.

I have walked around the whole yard at times carrying a soda with me, and my mother was drinking a coffee as we walked around. I did not see any garbage containers around the yard to put an empty container into. Last year when I was there, some people had a blanket on the ground to sit and watch the carferry and boats on Lake Michigan come and go from the Harbor. I hope that helps you, its really a wonderful place to visit towards the middle of July and so peaceful. People with green thumbs will really like this place.
