The Riviera is the main attraction, not the beach
Sep 2020
Riviera Beach is a popular destination for children and teenagers during the summer. Located on Wrigley Drive in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, it is near the Geneva Lake Shore Path and the Riviera Ballroom and within walking distance of downtown Lake Geneva's restaurants and shops. It is a place to swim, relax and picnic. But the main attraction is the Riviera, a marina and mixed-use meeting hall on the shore of Lake Geneva, adjacent to Riviera Beach, that was built in 1932 to fill a need for a recreational facility in the fast rising resort town. The Italian Renaissance structure, located at 810 Wrigley Drive, was once described as "the most intact historic building associated with transportation in the Geneva Lake area" and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. From the 1930s to the 1950s, the ballroom hosts such renowned swing and jazz bandleaders as Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Lawrence Welk, Lionel Hampton, Xavier Cugat and Harry James. Vocalists who performed at the Riviera included Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Nat King Cole, Lena Horne,Peggy Lee and Mel Torme. In the 1970s and 1980s, the Riviera rebranded itself as a discotheque, attracting the Village People, Chaka Khan, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor and the Ritchie family. Today, it remains a popular site for concerts, corporate events, meetings, parties and special occasions.

The Beach was not overcrowded. Nice to go and relax by the water. There were lifeguards out for our safety.

Only Public Beach near Lake Geneva
Sep 2020 • Friends
Aka Lake Geneva Public Beach. I was surprised by the small size of the beach. It gets crowded on holidays which is expected. It’s a good beach but Lake Michigan beaches are better so I guess my expectations were higher. $8 entry feed so if you go, spend as much time as you can to make it worth it. I’d recommend going after 3pm so that some of the crowd has dispersed by that time and weather is still hot.

Nice beach and relaxing. The water was nice and warm. There was a lot of kelp. It has a shower and restrooms. The restrooms were sandy as would be expected. The staff was friendly.

Summer retreat with a great beach experience
Jul 2020
We came to Lake Geneva for a couple days. After having attempted a trail nearby, we ate some lunch at the picnic tables nearby and headed off to the beach. There are plenty of restaurants nearby with outdoor seating if picnic isn't going to work for you. We were able to find some paid parking nearby relative easily (max 5 hour time limit).

The fee to use the beach is $6/person and no alcohol is allowed on the beach (they do have staff that check bags/coolers). The pass per person gives you in/out privileges. The beach is quite small and seemed to pack up pretty quickly - due to the Covid concerns, we picked up a spot at the edge of the beach which had a little more space from people.

The beach itself is quite nice - the sand is fine. As soon as you get to the water, it gets pretty rocky for the first 15-20 feet and then it gets back to sand.

The other two main beaches in the area (Fontana, Williams Bay) are for residents only/annual pass holders due to Covid. I am not sure if this driving more of a crowd to Riviera, but some thing to take into consideration.

There is a bathroom right outside of the park - the atmosphere of the park is more family oriented / high schoolers.

June 21, 2020. Dead fish along the shore. Smells horrible. I would not risk to swim in this water myself, and definitely this is not for kind. Beach itself is very small even for the number of people who wants to swim with dead smelly fish.

Really nice and relaxing

The beach is great and clean with lifeguards. Paying for entry is a bit annoying. The views of the lake and adjoining areas are great!

Great family friendly beach

Beautiful scenery. Not crowded and free after 5pm. Great tourist spot. Loved it. The riviera shops are great too, the fountain is lit up at night. Makes for great photo ops. Pretty downtown area. Can’t wait to come back.

We were going to go in but the weather was not perfect so we toured the area of riviera beach. Available boat tours and rentals all a short walking distance away. Clean bathrooms, nice shops and eats.
