I have some friends who live in New Zealand and run a John Deere museum. They travel around America each summer to look at and sometimes buy John Deere stuff. I vacation in this area and they happened to be passing through while I was up here and I remembered reading about Ed's Machine Shed in the paper when it opened because it made me think of my New Zealand friends. As it turned out, it was a Monday so it was closed but after making some calls, a wonderful woman named Janet let us in and she was later able to get a hold of Ed who came and gave them "the best tour they've ever had." Now these people are SERIOUS fanatics and have been doing this for many years and they were so, so impressed by Ed's collection. He had some sort of damming machine (sorry, I'm not a fanatic) that they had never seen nor heard of before and they said that has never happened. While Ed did his thing, I got a quick tour of the other buildings from Janet and all I can say is wow, what a treasure trove of relics and beautiful displays. And run by people who obviously enjoy doing it. No matter your interests, you'll probably find something to do with them in one of the buildings. Good for Ladysmith for having such a fantastic gem. I'm sorry I didn't take advantage of it sooner. My friends are just ending a 5 month long trip around the mid-west and they said Ed and his collection were THE highlight. I didn't know what to expect when we got there but we were blown away. Very much appreciate them opening up just for us, too.

The historical is a must see when in Ladysmith. The staff there put countless hours of work, and research into the museum.

Have visited the Rusk County Historical Society Museum multiple times. You could spend a few days in the place in order to take in everything they have. Tons of local area history, an excellent military uniform display and alot of history from the late 1800s to early 1900s from Wisconsin
