On our steamboat cruise down the Mississippi from St. Paul, we docked at the Riverside Park for the day. It is clean, shady, and a nice place to spend a few hours having a picnic or just watching the boats, tugs, and barges cruise up and down the river.

The views are great, park is immaculate, great place to people-watch, view eagles and osprey over the water, check out the very nice formal gardens, bring a picnic, and enjoy the day.

This gorgeous place is obviously special to the people of La Crosse and with good reason. A beautifully done park, complete with a gorgeous overlook of the entire Lacrosse/Onalaska area.

We had some time to kill after moving our student in and took a walk down Riverside Park. The waterfront offers a nice, people friendly walking area which allows you to check out some waterfront restaurants and do some people watching!! We came back the next day and did it again!!

This was our first visit to La Crosse and we stayed in a hotel right behind Riverside Park. Great view of the Mississippi River and a wonderful place to walk and we were able to ride the path to get to the great bike trails in La Crosse. Don't miss this area when staying in La Crosse!

Wish they could figure out same way to resolve the car parking issues, it takes away from the park. But otherwise it is a fantastic park, not becaue the City takes care of it, they do a moderate job of that, but the park by itself is worth a visit.

The worse experience was the Restrooms, toilets didn't flush. Huge cobwebs from the ceiling & into the toilet area. Mosquitos all over the toilet walls. Did not know about the Gardens near the Visitor Center! Then didn't have time to go thru it. The visitor center couldn't provide us with a restroom, but the rest of the park was beautiful.... More

Being a Minneapolis resident, I was pleased at how pretty and safe the large park is. I felt very safe walking through the area at 9 PM at night. There was a jazz concern going on Sunday evening. Fun to watch the boats on the river.

La Crosse has done a lovely job of developing their waterfront park. You can sit on comfortable benches and watch the boats on the river or you can go for a stroll through beautifully developed gardens or a walk on a paved path through waterside woods and natural bird habitats. There are fountains to be enjoyed, concerts in the park... More
