If you had kids that are active, this is the place to go! It's worth the fee to enter. There are rotating displays that are all interactive. There are also crafts and often times special shows. Great for one kid or a large group. Staff is helpful, the museum is clean, check out their website to see special events.

We love the Children's Museum! We frequently visit the museum with our 3 year old (and 3 month old). There are unlocked cubbies to keep your coats. They have 3 levels of fun. The bottom level has a great water (River) system that my son loves to play in. There is also a dinosaur maze, rock climbing wall (he's never done that), train table, construction booth, and more smaller exhibits. The main floor has a lot of activities including a fire truck & fire house, and a full wind tunnel system. The upstairs has some permanent play areas: grocery store, bank, shadow room, baby area; and some rotating exhibits.

It would be nice if they sold food. The ticket prices are a little high so we purchased a membership since we visit at least once a month. I love that they have a family restroom with a chair for nursing the baby.

We love to see families become regular guests--we're so glad you and your kids are enjoying the Children's Museum of La Crosse. Memberships certainly are an affordable way to get the most out of the hands-on play and learning opportunities. We are a non-profit organization and earn most of our operating income (for wages, utilities, insurance, exhibits, maintenance and all the other things that we need to be able to serve the public) from admission, memberships and other fees. The rest we raise from donations, grants and special events. We do try to keep our fees as low as possible. Our $7 per person admission less than most museums charge.

Many exhibits and only $6. Would definitely go here again. My son is 5 and we spent about three hours there. Only drawback is parking.

We're so glad that you and your son had a good time at the Children's Museum of La Crosse. For future visits, we recommend parking in the Market Square ramp, on Jay Street, just a half block from the Museum. Like all of downtown La Crosse's parking ramps, it offers 3 hours of free parking, and only 75 cents per hour after 3 hours.

We've been to a few different children's museums and this was the worst of them all.
1 - parking was almost non existent. We had to park several blocks away and it was a Thursday afternoon. I can't image the parking situation on a weekend.

2 - the lack of supervision was immediately evident. It didn't look like there was an employee over the age of 16 working, so there were children running around wildly. Now I get that this is the parents responsibility to control their kids, but the staff should have stepped in to stop some of the dangerous behaviors I saw from several children.

3 - "exhibits" were dirty and/or missing parts. There was one grocery cart for the Kwik Trip and almost no "food" items to play with. The bank was missing all of the props as well (although we did find some of the money in the tree house). There were several other exhibits that were also missing things or were very dirty.

4 - Other children's museums we've been to have staff waking around putting things away, wiping and sanitizing areas, and helping supervise exhibits. I saw one teenager supervising the climbing wall and three behind the counter at the gift shop. I never saw another employee anywhere else - which would explain why the museum was so dirty and the exhibits were trashed.

We are disappointed that your experience at our children's museum was below your expectations. Cleanliness--mostly done before and after public hours-- is very important to us, but small exhibit parts do get moved around by active visitors. Please call our Executive Director at 608-784-2652 x223 to share more details about your visit and concerns so we can address them and invite you back. We will be making changes to our building, exhibits, and staffing in the coming months. When you return, we suggest you park in the Market Square parking ramp a half block from the Museum on Jay Street because, you are correct, street parking near us is limited.

I took my 18 month old son here and he thought it was amazing. They have an area dedicated to kids under 4. They are all hands on and there is a lot to keep them busy. We spent two hours there and I am sure we could have stayed longer. It is easy on the wallet to. Decent price to get in and I found a coupon on there website. I plan on possibly getting a membership so we can keep going back.

We bought our grandson a museum membership but the daily entrance fee is worth every penny if you have to occupy young children. Plenty of hands on activities and displays for every interest from the climbing wall to the dinosaur maze, the firestation to the mini kwik trip and the shadow wall is always fun.

My 6 year old son loves this place. Stop once every year. Tiny Kwik Trip store is always a favorite. Only thing that sucks is you have to park on street and admission is $6 for all ages.

Kids loved it so much, we bought a membership! I had an 11 yr old, 6 year old enjoy 2 full hours. The water table, the KwikTrip shop, and the shadow room they loved best. There are so many cool things here.
