Very enjoyable except for a couple of things
Aug 2020
We spent a weekend at Blackhawk Lake a few weeks ago, and everything was enjoyable except for a couple of things.

First, we were disappointed that despite the WDNR's owning the recreation area, Blackhawk's admissions require a park admission sticker that's rather pricey for a single park.

Secondly, we were disappointed when informed at the park office that the mini-golf was removed, despite it being labeled on the website's map and listed on a website page with photos and pricing. The website should be updated, as this appears to be a case of bait-and-switch.

Meh hike, needs more trail signage
Aug 2020
Went here for an afternoon, hoping to get some hiking it. We got maps at the front office but they were really hard to follow. Trails aren't marked well at all. Good, clean bathroom facilities though.

Has few nice trails, small museum
Oct 2019
This park is probably good from the standpoint of campers - the area is all about camping and fishing and such. In southwestern Wisconsin's so-called Driftless Area there are no natural lakes - only creek impoundments like this one, so any of the artificially created lakes are prised for recreation and fishing. I am all into hiking though, and photographing and picking mushrooms. This park has few nice trails through the pine and spruce plantations, good for that purpose. However, unlike in some other locations, fee needs to be paid before entering. The park has small nature museum too in the office buidling at the entrance.

Very quiet and clean campground. Beach was great. Lots of things to do while there, swimming, fishing, boat ride and hiking.

Awesome place

I stayed here while on a turkey hunt. The cabin didn’t have water but it was great. The bathrooms and showers were right across the yard. I didn’t get to go to the lake but I will next year.

stunning

This park has anything someone seeks in a park. You can swim. You can fish You can launch your boat, canoe or kayak. There are tent sites that are remote and quiet and ten sites by the water. There are Rv sites and cabins.
And did I mention the scenery? It's gorgeous with the lush greens of spring. The fall colors will take your breach away
The check in process is quick. The people working there are friendly.

Bad Advice
Jul 2017 • Family
We stayed here over the Fourth of July weekend. When I called for a reservation, I told the person that we have a 33 foot travel trailer and I need to be sure we will fit on the site. She reserved site 95E for us and she assured me that the site would accommodate out size. We got there and the site was very un-level. My husband had to park off to the side, dig a hole to put a board in so the trailer hitch would be low enough but not sunk in the sand, and we had to use large cement blocks, standing on end to support the back of the camper. Our complaints were dismissed and we were told the site is plenty big. The site, as a whole, was big enough but the pad to park on was not big enough, nor was the gravel packed or remotely level. Look at the pictures and see what you think. We brought bikes to ride since the park is quite large only to find out that there was tar all over the road and our shoes and bike tires ended up full of sticky tar. We couldn't let our dog walk on the road for sure. The site was mostly dirt around the picnic table and fire ring. I used the shower house everyday, 4 days, and it was never cleaned. I used the same shower and the same garbage laid on the floor the whole time. The shower head was broken so it kind of just hung there and sprayed toward the wall so I had to hold it to aim it at myself. We did enjoy renting the pontoon and spending the day on the lake. Just not a happy visit. Won't go back.

Probably the least expensive campground with some of the largest campsites in Wisconsin
Aug 2017
100+ campsites, most which are electric. Multiple shower facilities, multiple playgrounds, multiple pavillions, hiking trails, large beach area. Lake is a no wake lake so no speed boats, but plenty of fishing. Water does get quite full of sea vegetation during the warm summer months due to the no wake, so swimming can be questionable during peak algae times. Always use shower after swimming anyway. Would recommend.

Great camping!
Aug 2017 • Family
Very nice camping with plenty of electric sites! The bathrooms and showers are always clean and stocked. The staff are very helpful and very nice. The lake has a very nice swimming beach and it is a great place to kayak/canoe. It is a no-wake lake so you know you won't get mowed down by a big motor boat.
