Today I took my mother with her walker to Boerner Botanical Gardens. I parked in a handicap parking spot. The sign directed us to a building in order to enter the gardens. That was a long walk, and it was there that we saw a sign to go to an outside booth to purchase tickets. By the time we got to the booth, my mom was getting tired. Then at the booth, the woman told me that I could have driven up a drive to drop my mom off at the booth. I asked if there was a sign stating that (the drive had a sign clearly saying "no motor vehicles") and she said no but there should be. When we were in the gardens, an employee directed us to a building with bathrooms, so we walked all the way there only to find the door locked. Totally unacceptable to ignore elderly people's needs!@

The botanical garden just have the outdoor part that you can tour for the flowers and plant, the indoor building didn't have any plant to see, yet, you may go down to the basement to see the history, also there is a library, you and the kids can see some books there. For the outdoor part, just the kids garden is attractive, if you have young kids, may worth to take a look, besides that, not much area you can tour, and not much different variety of flowers you can see. But during the Sep and Oct time, there are some Chinese Light decoration, it may be an added bonus if you visit the garden during the Sep & Oct. You need to buy separate tickets to see the lights at night, but if you visit during the day time, the general admission tickets can already allow you to see those light decoration.

It was wonderful to see China Lights back after a 2 year hiatus. Our family enjoyed the beautiful light displays and acrobat show. Wait for it to turn dark before viewing the lights.

We also enjoy the gardens during the day. It is so lovely to stroll and see the pretty flowers. Margie's Garden is new and nice for the kids.

Enjoyed the bulb garden at front entrance. Also liked cottage buildings. However, I was surprised to discover that Mitchell Conservatory (The Domes) is better for those seeking adventure and scenery. It probably took me no more than 30 minutes to tour Boerner Botanical Gardens. I probably will not be coming back unless they are planning on expanding the grounds. Very disappointed.

The Boerner Botanical Gardens are always a very nice attraction to visit. During the month of October the celebrate Asian culture with over 30 pieces made by Chinese artists. Come after dark. There are also performances and delicious food.

A very nice drive through Holiday light show in the gardens. A car load can drive through for $25.00. Headlights are off and speed is about 10 MPH. well worth the price of admision.

Went with wife, sister in law and two friends, all seniors. No teenager actually. Had difficulty finding the place. Saw an man loading golf equipment in his car in a parking lot. Asked him for directions. Very nice guy, a veteran. Went out of his way to lead us there.
Couldn’t understand why many complained of parking when there were slots aplenty. Went to entrance and there we found out why - it was closed! Turns out they’re not open on Mondays! Consolation is we were still able to get in as no one was guarding the gate. So we had a free tour and saw the entire showcase, albeit minus the lights. Hence minus delights.
Btw, purchase voucher from Groupon. It’s cheaper. $9 for seniors (60 above) as against &12, $19 for non seniors as against $20 or more I think. We were refunded by Groupon for the unused vouchers. Very nice people at Groupon.

This is the fourth year I have seen the China Lights and it is absolutely amazing and magical. The displays changes every year and they are able to make it better each year. The kids love the dinosaurs lanterns and the interactive lights. I enjoyed all of them and the Great Wall of China path was fun. There is a huge assortment of food from egg rolls to sweet and sour chicken but the kids insisted on the grilled cheese and bacon. The lines are long to get into the parking lot, shuttle bus and the garden itself but it is worth the wait. The performances are short but nice and also crowded.

==> If you don't care to see the performances and only want to see the lights, go on a weeknight after 8:30pm and there are hardly any people. It closes at 10pm and they do turn off all the lights exactly at 10pm.

The gardens will be doing a Holiday Light Show next month so I look forward to another spectacular event.

Just left China Lights, which is a beautiful event, that would be worth the time. We drove over an hour to see this and unfortunately the whole evening was overshadowed by the horrendous shuttle situation. Lots were packed full and over flowing with thousands of people there on a Thursday night to see this. Sadly, we had to stand in a dark field at the end of a parking lot for over an hour to get a shuttle. Then the return wait was about 45 minutes. We found that they only had two buses to try and transport the thousands of attendees. In addition, very little signage of where to get in the event when you got off the bus, so many of us walked 10 or 15 minutes extra trying to find the proper way in. When you have seniors, as we were, this standing along with the 1 1/2 hours or so to go through the event meant nearly four hours of continuous standing difficult to impossible for many or most older people.
