A very well-preserved site depicting life in the early years of our nation. The staff and volunteers were very helpful and knowledgeable. Be careful, though, who you talk to in the camp. Randy and I (stationed together over 40 years ago) started talking to one of the reenactors who has been doing this since 1969! 15 minutes later, another reenactor joined in the conversation. After 45 minutes of listening to their fantastic stories, we told them our wives were patiently waiting on a bench in the shade and we had to go. If our wives were not there, we would have listened to them for hours! Heritage Hill is nice, but those two gentlemen made my day!

An amazing living history “museum” with beautiful views of the river and surrounding area. Expansive grounds that you should budget a few hours for. Beautifully preserved buildings that allow you to step back in time. Many events scheduled throughout the year. Call ahead if wanting to visit when the interpreters are there.

We got to Heritage Hill a few times a year - they have fun events and it is a great learning experience for the kids. It also is fun in the winter when they have horse rides....although it can be cold in GB at that time of the year!

Rebecca Lom is difficult to work with, never returned calls. We had to do the setup with the secretary who never gave the notes to the setup crew. They shut the elevator off while there was handicapped people still at the reception. We had the room booked until midnight and they were asking us when we would be done at 9:00 p.m. We were asked if we would leave flowers we purchased from another vender for the bride the next day which in my opinion was very rude. Over heard bar tender complaining about his tips and how it was a waste of his time. It rained after the chairs were setup and were told we should have brought our own towels. The whole thing was just very very very unprofessional and I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND HERITAGE HILL FOR YOUR WEDDING.

This was the second time we've visited. First time most buildings were closed and today during their Halloween event some buildings were closed and others had long lines. Kids had to do event for even water or small treat. Disappointing.

I was here on a hot summer day. This is a 50 acre park that requires a lot of walking to see everything. The first building I went to was closed so I went back to the office to find out how many buildings in the park were closed & I was told 3 were closed. I then toured the park & about 1/3 of the buildings (8-10) were closed. If I had been told the truth when I started my tour I would have gotten my money back & not wasted an hour of my life walking around in the heat.

This a very large venue (48 acres). We were not told which buildings would be open which causes extra walking. The buildings that were open as were the interpreters were very nice. We spent 3 to 4 hours. It would be nice if there was some transportation. We had to stop due to distance causing us to miss about a 1/3 of the park. It is great that they are preserving history.

Attended the re-enactment today of the Battle of Antietam. They do a very good job of announcing what is happening, what each soldier is doing while in battle, although the cannon fire was a loud surprise! You can walk among the campsites and be sure to talk to the people. They are full of information! Food and beer is available to purchase. Nice day...

Learn about 1836 life at Fort Howard or how to trade furs at the fur trader's cabin. How did the Victorian families lived and visit a Belgium farm that includes animals! Great place for a family...

Amanda,
Unless we have an early snow, the park is open for Stroll through the Park, so there are no interpreters, but the grounds are open to walk. We are open Monday-Friday 10am-4:30pm.

Is there transportation for elderly people or are things close enough together that this is not really a problem.

We have trams that drive through the park during the day. Currently, as we have school tours going on, there are no trams running--400 kids are hard to avoid! Trams will be available Saturday and Sunday, June 4 & 5 and 11 & 12, and then Tuesday through Sunday June 14 through Labor Day, September 5.
The primary trams is also handicap accessible, with room for a wheelchair or non-foldable walker. We strive to make the majority of the park handicap accessible through the use of the trams, paved and/or level gravel pathways.
Trams do not operate on Mondays, as there is no historic interpretation on those days. Buildings are only gated for viewing.
