Unmarked, but well used trail
Oct 2021
We were looking for short trails and this one caught our eye. We may have passed on it if not for a fellow hiker just leaving the trail. He gave us some information--VERY many roots--not muddy, can turn back when ever. No map on info board.
True to his description, a lot of roots but not much up/down and a nice bench to sit and enjoy this view. We were happy hikers when back to the car:)

Unique trail
Jul 2021 • Family
This park gave us a unique hiking experience. The trail is all roots. Wear a sturdy shoe, not flip flops .

Rugged walk!
Jul 2021 • Family
This was one of the more interesting hikes I landed up doing in flip flops. Just got done swimming at a beach so thought, why not? Talk about roots! Next time I'll wear hiking boots.

Away from the tourists and crowds
Sep 2020
No crowds. Great walks through cedar forests on undeveloped trails. Keep going and the better the views get. We enjoyed going here, away from the more traveled and touristy areas. Seems a few other people were here when we arrived but very few ventured beyond the first few steps on to the trail as it looks like it doesn't go anywhere. Just keep winding your way through the cedars and you'll come to the top where the view is nice and there's a bench waiting for you to sit on.

We had a tough time finding trails but when we did reach a clearing the view was spectacular. We look forward to returning

Door County Adventure

Quiet. Not crowded. Kind of a hard steep trail but so worth it for the views. There’s a longer trail but we only walked out to the rock overlooking the water. ❤️

At the Land's End
Aug 2019
This is pretty much where the Door County ends, and with it State of Wisconsin. There is Washington Island still to the side, plus smaller islands, but the feeling here is just that - you ran out of land to go on, and this is it. The views are breathtaking. The only downside is - this is very rustic, and it's hard to get around in the absence of trails, except the foot path that goes along the bluff (unofficial trail?). Perhaps it's better to keep it that way. One other thing - few years ago when the lake levels were low, there was a nice rocky beach where people made towers out of rocks strewn around. Last time I have been there, there was nothing left of it, and the waters of Lake Michigan were lapping at the shoreline tree's lower trunks.

Rustic trail hike
Aug 2019 • Family
We hiked this rustic bluff trail over Labor Day weekend. There isn’t really a trail map to follow so you’re on your own and we occasionally checked our GPS to see how far we’d hiked. We just followed what appears to be a foot path that eventually winds down through the woods and back to the parking area. Keep small children close when hiking up along the bluff. The views of the bay from up top are gorgeous. There are port a potties but no other services. Easy to find off of Hwy 42 and Garrett’s Bay Rd.

Colorful fall area
Oct 2018 • Couples
We hit this at peak fall colors and this area was full of beautiful yellow and orange leaves. The drive in was beautiful. We took the hike out to the lookout and enjoyed that. This part of the peninsula had the best fall colors for us.

Tip of the Door County penisula
Sep 2018 • Solo
The appeal for me was that it was at the very tip of the peninsula, and harder to get to than the other more commonly visited (and crowded) parks in the county. You will have to follow your GPS/Googlemaps carefully to get there from either Gills Rock or Ellison Bay. There is a trail to the edge of the lake bluff, only a couple hundred yards but slow going due to the heavy amout of tree roots you have to walk over. But a fantastic "sit-and -ponder" view when you get there.
