The museum features several interactive exhibits, as well as tours of the immaculately restored seagoing tugboat John Purves. Nice small museum that is worth the price
Sep 2020
Nice small museum that was worth the $6 admission. It took us less than an hour to go through the museum, however we didn't stop to read every display. It was very informative.

My husband and I visited and loved learning about the maritime history in the area. This place was well organized and had a friendly staff that was willing to answer any questions we had.

This is a great place to go on a rainy day. The gentleman at the door is very friendly and quite informative. It's worth your time on a bad weather day.

Great Rainy Day Activity
Oct 2019
We were stuck with a rainy day in Door County and very much appreciated this little gem of a museum. We took our time and stayed two hours. There is a lot to learn here about former days of fishing and the types of ships built to endure the Great Lakes.

My grandfather was a sailor and I love water! This museum gives you wonderful stories of the seaman, boats, shipwrecks in the area. There's a wooden boat to explore, videos, lots of motors and engines. Museum is thoughtfully laid out with engaging stories and exhibits. Don't miss this gem!

Great small museum
Aug 2019 • Family
We decided to visit this museum on our last day. We were not disappointed! It’s small but loaded with great information and stories about the area. Very interesting. Our boys are 14, 11, 7 and really enjoyed it. There is a real fishing boat to climb in and explore. Fun interactive games you learn from. Small, cute gift shop. Would highly recommend.

Most Enjoyable

Wonderful, small museum with historical exhibits relating to Great Lakes fishing. There is a audio recording of the Coast Guard speaking with a ship that was tracking the Edmund Fitzgerald on the day it sank. Video exhibits depicting whitefish fishing. $5 entrance fee. An informative and well worth it stop.

Visited here at the end of the day when we were in the Ellison Bay area. There were some nice displays and interactive exhibits. Spent about 45 minutes here. That seemed like just about enough time to see everything..

Great museum
Jul 2019 • Couples
Very interesting museum. Some interesting history and items from Edmund Fitzgerald and actual radio conversation with the Cast and Coast Guard before it went down. We spent about an hour and half in here.

Nice local history hub

Great source for local history, but could use more exhibits. Excellent place for the mechanic lover, based on the large display of boat motors
