My husband and I wanted to celebrate our 21st anniversary but due to Covid were limited with options. We like outdoor adventures and Door County so when we saw segways as an option we inquired. What sold us on Off-Road Segways was the off roading option. We didn't want to ride on a road and were so glad we chose this. I left a message and Rick (the owner) responded quickly, gave me to need to knows about our booking and took time to provide me with all the Covid safety precautions they were taking. I can not express how much fun we had. We had no knowledge on how to operate segways and Rick took time to show us. After we felt comfortable and having practiced, Rick took us on the path. The paths were well groomed with some fun bumps and turns. The beauty of being in the woods and trees and nature was breathtaking. You almost forgot you were on a segway. The ride was smooth and we experienced various paths and textures. We went over to Lake Michigan where we spent some time taking in the views and Rick took several pictures of our family. Along the ride, He was never rushed, always made sure we were ok and took us on paths based on our groups skill. We would definetly recommend Off-Road Segway for anyone looking for fun. We can't wait for spring to go back and do it again!

We booked a last-minute Segway tour on our last day of our trip to Door County. We all agreed it was the best part of the weekend! Rick is patient with first-time riders and had great tips that made us feel safe and ready to have fun. After a short training session to get comfortable on the Segways we went on various trails through the woods and along the lakeshore. Absolutely beautiful. There seem to be courses for beginners and more advanced riders, which we took towards the end of the tour.
Rick is, without a doubt, one of the coolest guys in Door County and you should DEFINITELY book a tour, you won’t regret it!
We can’t thank Rick enough for the experience, and are already looking forward to returning!

Our group of 8 did this during our Door County vacation and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip! The ATV-type tires gave the Segways a fun bounce as we rolled over rocks and tree roots along wooded pathways near Rowley's Bay.
Our guide Rick was terrific, teaching us how to use the Segways and allowing the speed racers in our group a chance to really see how fast we could go.
Definitely a fun adventure. We can't wait to try a new path on our next trip!

We signed up for Tour Two - Reach the Beach and Rowley's Bay Fish Boil. When I contacted the tour operator to make a reservation for a mid-week tour, he told me that the resort changed its schedule and was only doing the fish boil on Friday and Saturdays. We rearranged our schedule, including changing our driving route and taking the car ferry across Lake Michigan, in order to arrive in Door County early enough to do the tour. When we arrived, Rick said that the resort was no longer doing the fish boil due to COVID. He thought he had told me so by e-mail, but I never got a message from him. I assume he must have confused us with someone else. He gave us a business card for another place that does fish boils, but it wasn't a great experience.
There had been rain in the days leading up to our tour. The trail was soggy in a few places. Not sure if it was the mud or a root, but my husband wiped out on the Segway. Rick was helpful and prepared with a first aid kit. We got back on the Segways and went a little further. Rick said that other spots on the trail were going to be mushy too. We ended the tour early rather than risking another fall. Rick was nice and decided not to charge us for the tour.
The off road segway is fun and I want to try it again. My disappointment had less to do with the fall and more to do with the communication leading up to the tour.

We’ve never ridden segways before this trip and the owner (& our guide) was calm, funny and very engaging. He gave clear instructions on how to operate the segways and gave us time to ride around and practice on a smooth grassy area. So glad we opted for the offroad version as it was a blast sipping through the woods - and there were places where we could also go faster. Teenaged boys loved it too and it made for a great family adventure!

Awesome time! Our group really enjoyed Rick, his wife, and the entire segway experience. They made us feel safe, with training for those of us (3 of 4) who had never ridden a segway before. Then, once everyone is comfortable he took us on a great ride through his land, stopping just enough times to make sure we were all feeling good and explaining the terrain to come. Would definitely go again!

What a wonderful adventure! Rick was a patient teacher and a great tour guide. We got several minutes of training on how to use the Segways before getting on to practice operating on level and hilly ground. Then we headed out into the woods on well groomed trails for about 90 minutes, including a break half-way at Sand Bay Park. We learned how to travel over uneven ground, and had opportunity to go fast on smooth trails, too. Lots of fun! We will definitely be back with our adult kids as soon as we can.

This was a great time with the family. None of us have ever ridden a Segway before. Rick took us on a beautiful ride through the woods in the fall to the beach and back through various trails. There was ample instruction and practice time before going out and Rick has this great way of instruction and putting you at ease on the machines. My wife is probably the least coordinated of all of us and she took to it in only a few minutes. Our kids 11 and 13 had a blast and want to go back. They like to go fast but they also liked the slower off road pace in the woods. It was amazing to see the different terrain in such a small area and how these simple machines can handle the various terrain.

What fun! My husband and I have been on 3 Segway tours in the past and we loved them, but we always said to each other after they were done that we wished we could have more time just riding the Segway. Our wish was answered on this tour. We were with one other couple and after Rick made sure we were able to ride, turn, and navigate hills on the practice run, he took us on an awesome ride through a path through the woods to Sand Beach Bay. Of the 5 of us, I was the most nervous about the ride but was able to keep up with everyone and by the time we were heading back, I was more comfortable. Rick stopped several times while we were riding to point out interesting items such as roots from a fallen tree, etc. and, for me, pointing out Big Foot. It was a wonderful 2 hours.

Our family of four, including two 20-year-olds, is not exactly an outdoorsy/ adventure family. But we absolutely loved this experience!! Also, fair to say I am pretty clumsy, but Rick made it so easy to pick it up really quickly and made the experience feel very safe and so so fun! He’s got a very easygoing, relaxed manner, which makes you feel so comfortable, and he gives you plenty of time to enjoy the ride, see the lake, and offered to take lots of pictures for us. His assistant Lily was great too! Thank you so much Rick!! Highly highly recommend!!!

Can the segway trail also be used as a bike trail? I am interested in renting a bike when in Door Co in October and want to ride somewhere different than Peninsula State Park (I did those trails in July)..

I don't think so. The majority of them are on private property.
