Took my 11 year old daughter Anne for a ride on the model t railcar. Short trip to museum then a return. Both enjoyed it. The him of the old engine as it ticks along at 20 mph wonderful. Rebuilt to original specs and beautifully at that. Well worth it took an hour while experience with visit to lovely old railcars and engines and a short historical movie even a model railway. Great value for money recommended

Even for someone not deeply fond of trains, this was great. Give yourself at least a couple of hours. The museum is worth spending time exploring. I loved the steam engine.

Visited on Friday 27th April. We were disappointed it was not open the day we were there as it looked like a well maintained Heritage Railway. We were luck to be able to view the Station Buildings and Platform and recommend you time your visit for when they are open and operating trains.

We were surprised as we wandered around the station building & signal box to see & hear a train heading up the line. It was on a charter for kids & pulled in to the station enabling us to look over the old carriages & the now opened Station waiting rooms & ticket box. A gem worth looking after as railways are pretty rare in NZ.
