Grodziec Zamek Castle Schloss

Great day out, well worth a visit. Ramparts elevated around the castle complex outer walls truly interesting and can take half and hour to walk around, semi open, closed and fully open walkways. Castle is situated on a wooded, forest hill. The interior of the castle is very interesting very old, passage ways chapel main hall bedrooms etc, in fact I have never seen so many medieval old toilets in a castle ever ! Brilliant interior, old chapel. There are also remnants of elevated medieval raised gardens. There is also parking at the foot of the hill on the approach to the castle which is situated at the top of the hill or you can park at the top next t the castle. There was live firing of cannons as we heard on our approach on foot to the castle, brilliant.Castle has a shop, food outlet and there was a live performance on. Also they were preparing for a wedding venue, great to see. The outer grounds of the castle are amazing with old defensive towers and original out buildings. At the foot of the hill is an ancient church, probably dates back to 1600's with German aristocratic family graves. The surrounding village of Godziec is amazing, truly ancient some beautiful picturesque very old houses and old gausthauses. Probably the best castle I have ever been to and originally Polish before the German occupations. Amazing and atmospheric with mist and cloud passing by as you look out from the top of the castle over the valley below towards Boleslawiec and Okmiany. Well worth a visit.THis old boy has survived many centuries of adverse conditions. A Unique place for sure!

the castle is located on the hidden forest hill, few kilometers from Zagrodno... you climb up it and have a great walk in the middle of nature.. the castle is renovated but it looks great and inside you can feel the atmosphere of old, good times ... besides you can easily have a picking there, because they provide full infrastructure for such activity ... ie: hearth, barbecue and benches ...

We spend there few hours, climbing up the stairs to the narrow corridors ,hidden places.. there is lovely view from the top like watching sunset..castle has great location at the top of the hill so park your car half way up, there is free car park. Inside the place was bit run down ther is no much furniture left from the past. Would recommend it’s hidden gem and great surroundings..pleasant forest.

A very nice place to visit if being in the region. A hidden place, rather quiet in very beautiful surrounding - it is fun to climb stairways and discover little hideaways.
The place is used for parties, weddings, so obviously the infrastructure is there, but sometimes the climate is lost, the "museum" is a bit neglected and the items are a mixed, so this would not be a attraction by itself.
Still a nice few hours trip -but go there only if the weather is nice.

This castle is wonderful on the outside and inside. It could stand to have a few more time period pieces within but very nice over all!

Stopped by on New Year's Day, surprised to find it open. There had obviously been a medieval party there the night before as people were still going home. It was a really interesting morning with plenty to see we all thoroughly enjoyed it and it cost next to nothing. Definitely worth a visit

I have visited the place in March 2016. The day was a bit foggy, the whole hill was wrapped in clouds of fog. There were almost no people. We bought the tickets and enjoyed visiting the walls and several rooms on our own. The bedrooms made a bit sad impression, but kind of realistic one. The whole castle is not fully renovated and so the items are, mostly not original. The place looked like mysterious and a bit abandoned.

We went in a cold and foggy morning to this castle. It made the mood so enchanting. We climbed through all the small staircases leading you to the top and enjoyed every minute. We especially loved it because it didn't have many areas off limits. Like a kid in a fort!

A short 25 km from Bolesławiec. The castle originally built 1155 and sits atop an extinct volcano. The castle grounds are extensive and the structure in tact. There is much to explore inside and out. Entry fee is only 10 PLN. We spent a couple hours there and enjoyed the views and looking at all the historical artifacts.
