Worst backpackers we have stayed out throughout Australia and Europe, they have massive waits to check in, rude staff and you can't cook food between 10pm and 6am and treat you like children. We have travelled all over the world and is honestly the worst place I have stayed! Don't recommend👎

Stopped at Gilligans on Father's Day with my husband for lunch. We were on our way home to Eau Claire. We ordered our food and sat at the bar inside. After a 45 minute wait we asked the bartender if she could check on our food. She said it would be up shortly. She told us that there were many people outside on the deck that had also ordered food. After one hour, someone from the kitchen came and asked if we had ordered food? We said yes and were told that it would be 10 minutes. After 20 minutes we paid for the drinks we ordered and left without waiting for our lunch. We did notice that people that came in after us had already been served, given their bill and left already. There were a few people that came in maybe 45 minutes after we got there and already had their appetizers. We have eaten here before, while going through Chetek but will not stop again. It would have been nice if we had been asked before 1 hour and 20 minutes if everything was going okay. Never happened. Too bad to have such a terrible experience on Father's Day.

We were passing thru the area and decided to stop for lunch and a drink. The packers were playing the Vikings. We ordered a drink then Since it was really packed in the bar we decided to go outside to the tiki bar. It is a really nice view/area. We sat at the bar and ordered food. They had a lot of things going on with the packer game and that was fun, but noticed it’s been a long time since anyone actually cleaned or took care of the outside bar area. There was mold on every surface you could see except the bar top. The beer tap station was built out of wood and you could see all the rotted wood surrounding it. When I ordered a second drink there were fruit flies floating it which means they don’t cap there bottles when not in use. A group of three came out back with a dog and sat at a table near the outer edge. Dog was on a leash and better well behaved then the kid sitting near us. Suddenly the building door burst open and a small blonde woman wearing a packer jersey rudely shouted at the people that “you can’t have a dog out here and you should have read the signs! We could loose our food license.” They stated they did not see any signs(neither did I) and left. I’m assuming she was some sort of manager/owner, she was extremely rude, instead of just politely explaining and she clearly wasn’t worried about cleanliness could the tiki bar was discusting.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your visit thoroughly. We strive to make Gilligans a fun welcoming atmosphere. We'd like to offer some explanation of the issues you brought up: • Our Tiki Bar/Deck is stained/sealed every spring and washed several times a week. With 1000's of visitors every summer, we've never had this complaint of mold anywhere, especially not "every surface". • Fruit flies show up almost immediately upon opening up the Tiki Bar on everything from garnish trays to the liquor bottles. We take several steps to minimize this, but it's something unstoppable that happens at outdoor bars everywhere. • As far as the dog goes, there was more to that situation than you mentioned including the dog owner arguing repeatedly with staff that our website says we allow dogs (it does not). We hope we have the chance to serve you again and share a proper Gilligans experience with you.

This is a nice restaurant on the lake with outdoor seating and live music. Lots of room to dine in, good food, very pleasant staff. Overall, a nice relaxed dining experience. Cheese curds were delicious and their drinks are very reasonably priced.

Gilligans has a lot of the typical food (pub food) that is available in the Chetek area. What they do have is plenty of wait staff that hustles to provide good service. Summers at their tiki bar are really nice. Live music is provided frequently. Their food is as good or better than any other place in the area.
