Please do not bring firearms with you on your visit. You are not allowed to bring firearms on the base even with a permit. The gate will not store then for you during your visit. Thank you.

We've passed the base and Museum on five round trips between SC and MN. We FINALLY were able to stop. I had planned for a two hour visit, but delays en route cut our time in half. The museum has great outdoor displays of aircraft, tanks, artillery, etc. but winter temperatures restricted us to a "windshield tour." OK...it was fall, not winter. But it felt DARN cold to us South Carolinians! If you want a whirlwind tour of the museum, everything can be SEEN in 20 minutes. If you have any real interest for militaria, an hour's time will scratch the surface. If you're a serious military history buff, you'll need at LEAST two hours to really explore everything. I know I'll be visiting again on my next run - hopefully in the summer when I can get a close-up look at all static displays. A special comment about Eric, the gentleman who hosted us during our tour. He's very knowledgeable about the Museum, the base, Guard and Air Guard. He shared several stories with us, and greatly added to our knowledge and appreciation. But Eric went far beyond merely being a good host. The Museum is normally closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Because our travel arrangements would only allow us to visit on a Tuesday, Eric was kind enough to juggle his schedule and open the place on Tuesday... AND come to work on his off day! We are very grateful and appreciative of the extra effort he made on our behalf. The US Navy had (and may STILL have, in this modern era) a signal flag code for a job well done. I'm taking the liberty to send that signal to you, Eric..... "BRAVO ZULU!"

Driving along I-94 we spotted this as a stop. My wife and I have never stopped at something like this, but very happy we did. It’s located on the Volk Field Air National Gourd Base and has great collection of airplanes displayed outside. The history of Mr Volk is inside of the museum. It’s a small museum, but incredibly happy we stopped. Great unexpected stop.

Very cool collection located off of 1-94. Some legendary pieces including F-4 Phantom jet, M-48 Patton tank, M-3 37mm anti-tank gun, guns, outfits and many other items. Passed this for years and should have stopped sooner. Took some great photos and learned some very interesting history along the way.

We were passing through Wisconsin and saw the sign for this place on the interstate. As Tennessee guard members, my husband and I stopped out of curiosity. This is an interesting place. A lot of reading is involved and the attendant is knowledgeable. It's right off the interstate on the Volkfield guard base and offers free admission, literature and postcards. Outside are planes, helicopters and tanks. Check it out!
