Customized Outdoor Recreation in the Cable Area of Northwest Wisconsin! AVAILABLE W/ RESERVATIONS MADE IN ADVANCE. We r a fat bike, snowshoe, hiking + lake canoe guided tour co that provides small/private, fully-supported day trips + camp outs that r tailored to any skill level. High performance equipment, an experienced WFR-certified lead guide who has your safety + outdoor enjoyment in mind, off-the-beaten-path backcountry routes + spots, intra-tour transport (if needed), hydration, nutrition, + @ least 1 healthy meal r all included in pricing. We can blend r sports per tour + do guide any season during both day + night hrs. For your group we have 6 fat bikes, 10 sets of snowshoes, room for 10 passengers in our van, and our canoe tours and camp outs accommodate up to 2 participants. 1/2-day tours r $325 for 1-3 participants, $100/add’l participant. Full-day tours r $495 for 1-3, $150/additional participant. Over-nights r $1,075 for 1-2, 2-Nighters are $1,350, all cookouts included.

We booked a five hour fat tire bike ride with Josh (the owner). Josh was super communicative and accommodating throughout the booking process. On the morning of our ride it was storming pretty badly, but Josh was incredibly flexible and allowed us to do the ride in the afternoon. We ended up doing a shorter ride, which actually worked out better for us.
Josh made sure we would have a good ride - he fitted us to our bikes, had gatorade and waters stashed in the woods and during the ride was sure to offer advice and help. The best thing about the tour is that Josh took us on a bunch of single track and back country paths that we would have never found on our own. In short, he was amazing.
After the ride Josh sent us a bunch of photos from the ride and even showed us to a private swimming hole. In sum, I highly recommend booking with Up North Guided tours, even if you don't have experience biking - Josh will take care of you.

Josh's passion for the Northwoods and knowledge of the area's extensive trail system are unparalleled. He takes great care to communicate across all levels of experience, makes it fun, and provides thoughtful little extras and meaningful insights. Not only is the equipment is all top-notch, but this is hands down one of the best guided experiences we have had from start to finish all three times. We'll be back for more fat bike fun with Up North again soon!

Went fat tire biking for the first time ever. Josh uses top quality equipment and is a top quality guide. He gave excellent instruction and is clearly passionate about the outdoors, fat tire biking, and snowshoeing. He also knew a lot of the local history and was very relatable. Will definitely do again!

The fat bike and snow shoe excursion that Up North Guided Tours offers was wonderful!! And Josh was GREAT; very knowledgeable on all the rental equipment and trail systems (which I would expect nothing less..), as well as the area, in general. For a Floridian not used to these northern Wisconsin temps, and not being in the best of shape, Josh was extremely patient, and showed me a real nice time. The hot chicken noodle soup and spotted cow at the end of the tour was the icing on the cake. Would highly recommend.

Our family of four booked a last-minute tour with Josh today - thanks for the great customer service and flexible schedule! This was our first time riding fat tires, and biking trails (we've mainly ridden road bikes). Our fitness level varies widely: my 52 year old husband and does IronMan and trail running, my 19 year old son is a collegiate runner, my daughter is 22 and recently ran a half marathon, but is not overly athletic, and I'm a 50 year old past runner who prefers yoga now. We ALL had fun! Josh was supportive and let me know it was okay to go slow, and he stayed with me when I needed him to, but at the same time he gave the others some directions so they wouldn't get held up waiting for me. I still had the opportunity to challenge myself and get good and dirty. We rode on grass and dirt trails, and also some single trails that had lots of good S-turns and obstacles to work through. Three of us took diggers (mostly me; only college son didn't, of course), especially as we got more tired, but no one got really injured. Josh provided helmets and bikes fitted to each of our varying sizes (as well as water, Gatorade, and a clif bar each), but other than that we didn't have any specialized equipment/clothing (definitely need closed-toe shoes). I have already recommended Josh to our friends that have a cabin in Hayward, WI!

In planning a trip with friends to Northern Wisconsin I became aware of Up North Guided Tours. A friend of mine had shared what a great biking experience he had with them. I spent a great deal of time as a child in the area but never had been on a bike on trails. What an awesome time! Up North took us deep within the woods on a trail system that I had no knowledge existed. It was a ton of fun for me and my friends. Felt like we were kids again. I will definitely return as the experience was just incredible. I highly recommend.

I went on a Fat Bike night ride this winter with Up North Guided Tours. What an amazing way to experience the North Woods! They took us on groomed singletrack and the fat bikes they provided just ate it up. I was really surprised how much traction I got, and the lights they provided just lit up the trail. I think the best part was the beauty and peace in the woods at night. Really Amazing! The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks for the great experience!

Josh was extremely helpful and knew every nook and cranny of the trails. The bikes were high quality and surprisingly light. UpNorth took me on one of the most scenic routes I've ever been on. They will certainly have my business again.

I have had 3 fat bike tours and 1 snowshoe tour with Josh. He is incredibly patient and will custom tailor the adventure that is right for you. I am a year round Northwoods resident and Josh has showed me amazing natural treasures that I never new existed. I look forward to my next tour!!
