I have been doing the Brule and renting my equipment for BRCR since 1975. You can always count on decent canoes and kayaks, along with service this is top notch. Whether you are just a novice or an experienced kayaker, there's a trip for your skill set on the Brule. The river is still pristine with plentiful wildlife to enjoy. Let's hope the visitors to this great river respect it.

We decided on a whim to schedule a kayaking trip while in Duluth. I found Brule River Canoe and called them, not really knowing what I needed to ask. Sam was very helpful and quick to answer all of my questions. Within a couple of hours we were on the water for a 4 hour trip. The scenery was beautiful, but with us not exactly being seasoned kayakers, we chose the least difficult route. It had a few thrilling areas, but was mostly flat and required a great deal of paddling. The crew picking up the kayaks at the stopping point were friendly and helpful in even carrying our kayaks up to the roundabout for me. If looking for a canoe or kayaking adventure, regardless of your skill level, try these people out.

We took the 4 hour trip. Was beautiful, but the time of year that we went, the water current didn't help us along. It was 4 hours of constant paddling. Enjoyed the trip though!!

Thanks for the review! For some the A1 Trip is a bit too much flat water, fortunately the rest of the river is faster and has a more drastic elevation change.

My husband and I were in the area for a week and decided to paddle a canoe from Stone's Bridge to Winneboujou on my birthday. We had reserved ahead of time, but they were a little short on staff (or so they said - I think they may have just overbooked, but who knows). We were supposed to go at 10:30am. We checked in and 10am, signed our waivers and grabbed our life jackets. We drove to our end point at Winneboujou to leave our car. We arrived there at 10:30 and waited for a driver to pick us up. He arrived just after 11 and drove us to Stone's Bridge and the adventure began. The water is pristine. Crystal clear and gorgeous. At times there were a lot of rocks to navigate and many areas where trees have fallen and you have a narrow passage to paddle through. We are not experienced and had no problems. The scenery is breathtaking. And seeing Cedar Island (aka the summer White House) where President Coolidge spent the summer of 1928 was a real treat. This river is steeped in history. We saw many people stopped along the way, just having fun and relaxing. We stopped paddling often, but never completely stopped to get out of the canoe. At times it would be perfectly peaceful and other times we would meet up with big and loud groups. But that didn't bother us at all. The houses along the way are fun to look at. Old houses that have been passed down through the years. This river is a treasure. To have something like this is our state is amazing. So clean and picturesque. We will consider doing it again if in the area, but might start where we left off and head north so we can see something different. We didn't bring much with us. A plastic bag for our phones (only so we could take pictures), the car keys, and 2 water bottles. Next time I will be more prepared with bags that we can easily tie to the canoe and maybe a small cooler. It was easy - not strenuous at all. We spent 3.5 hours doing it but could have taken longer. If you don't like paddling, the river will move you along. You just have to paddle enough to steer the canoe. I would highly recommend this. The price was right too. We paid $52 + tax. It is stunningly beautiful and a natural paradise. The driver was nice and getting out of the water and having our car right there was a plus.

We are too so appreciative of the Bois Brule in Wisconsin and so close to our friends in Minnesota as well. Our staff is dedicated to showing up on time and apologize for the hiccup. Cheers and enjoy the rest of the summer!

We rented a canoe to do the Stone's Bridge to Winneboujou paddle this past weekend. It was wonderful. The staff were helpful and the shuttling ran very machine-like. I should note that there were a few inexperienced canoers that started out when we did and they did not fare well on the small rapids. We did not experience any problems and had a wonderful time and I can't wait to go again. The river was exceptionally scenic and really beautiful. I can't wait to go again!

Thanks for the nice review, and yes I agree with you on the inexperienced canoers that come and experience the river. We like to recommend a tandem kayak or single kayak for new paddlers, for it seems to help the inexperienced get accustomed to paddling.
