Out for a drive after months in covid sequestration. Decided to stop when we saw the pro-masking signage and amply spaced customers. Enjoyed talking with Kenno about the history and wines...walked out with a full case of amazing. There wasn't a single wine that wasn't fantastic

Interesting spot right downtown Baraboo on the square. Tastings were $4 and unfortunately limited selections as many of the 27 wines were sold out or not yet ready for bottling. Tried the five wines available plus a frozen wine slush. Liked the wines and bought some. Would recommend mid or later Oct for more fall wines. Best thing about this place was no preservatives or sulfites used in the wines.

Small town Baraboo never disappoints. Von Klaus is a nice addition to the charming downtown square. I feel the review from Melsuemoo was not only juvenile but spiteful. This isn't Sonoma or Napa! Yes, the wines are fruit based and sweet but many are not cloying sweet. The owner, Ken, is passionate about his craft and we applaud this and his keeping the dream alive for the founder who has passed away. As for the pairings, our cheese was ample and superb, the bread was fresh and the seasoned oil complemented it. Ken had a nice substitution for the shrimp course. The chocolate was wrapped but so what. It was creamy and we enjoyed it with the wine selected. The tasting room is on the second floor part of an antique store. We sat at a window table overlooking the Square. We will continue supporting small town endeavors and encourage you to visit this charming tasting room.

Von Klaus is a little tricky to find.. especially when you are expecting to find an actual winery. Their only tasting room is on the top floor of a downtown building and inside an antique store. Unusual, but not necessarily a bad thing. My husband and I just did a tasting and did not partake in any of the course options others are talking about. If you are a sweet wine drinker, these wines are for you. Even their dedicated "dry" is quite sweet. Though I don't typically care for the super sweet wines, I was pleased with some of the wines I tried. My husband was in his glory and wanted to go home with all of it. His favorite was Devil's Red and mine was Glacier Mist. We appreciated learning about the Von Klaus wines and how they stand apart from others by not using sulfites. We would certainly come back.

This was a last minute add-on to our day of wine tasting near the Dells. So glad we stopped. The tasting was reasonablly priced and included a great selection. If you like fruit wines, I think you'd enjoy their selections. They were busy and with only one person serving, it was a little slow, but because he was also the owner and wine maker, he was able to share his expertise on the current offerings and offer some insight on future releases we might enjoy. They also make some brandy wines and the one they had available was very good.

Went in for a 4-course tasting and this proved a great way to spend the afternoon. It was a sunny day, and the view overlooking downtown could not be beat. Wines were noticeably sweet and fruity but enjoyable - unique! The pairings were phenomenal and the service was friendly, but you do have to have some time to dedicate to the tasting - it is not something I would try to tackle in less than 2 hours - so grab some friends and enjoy yourself! This was a fun way to support local business - I would come back.

First course, square pieces of cheap bread, drowned in olive oil.....paired with 4 oz of fermented fruit juice. Second course, 6 squares of cheese, no bigger than a penny and what can only have been watered down wine. Third course, 6 room temperatures shrimps that screamed out with a warning smell of food poisoning and some even worse tasting wine. Last course and mind you, we were both busting out laughing at this point at how bad it was but also, wondering why we were forcing ourselves to endure anymore; 6 wrapped candies that looked like the pieces you get out of a bulk wedding grab bag.
As for the setting, have you ever ate at a table in the middle of a thrift store?

We stopped in on our weekend getaway. Thought it would be something nice to pickup as a gift. They only had a few bottles of only 1 flavor left and told us they were bottling in a few weeks. That really doesn't help anyone who's not from around here. Just ended up a little disappointed that we didn't get the opportunity to try all of what they make. We did pick up one bottle, price was very reasonable.

I am sorry for your experience. We were going through some growing pains, and I am hopeful that will not happen again in the future. Hopefully you can make it back this way again. We have many more wines in stock, we would love to share with you - with our complimentary tasting!

After finding the tasting room, which was located on the second story of an old storefront building, we found ourselves at the counter of a wine tasting room that had a very fun host. He was funny and liked to joke around, and he was all around a wonderful and pleasant host. We definitely enjoyed the Devil's Dry as the favorite, but there were several very good options for people with all palettes!

My hubby and I recently got the chance to go to this cute little wine shop in the middle of the quaint village of Baraboo. With so many wineries to choose from, we are so happy that we chose this one. We opted for the 4 course wine and food pairing and also got to sample their other delicious fruit wines and let me tell you... If we did not have a weight restriction going home to Belgium, we would have bought a bottle of each of them. They are all super delicious and could each function as a dessert or regular wine. Also, the owner, Kenn, is just a delight to talk to and be guided by. You can tell this winery is his passion and it shows through his warmth, his knowledge, his hospitality and his enthusiasm. If you are hesitating whether to go here, don't! And make sure you have some room in your vehicle for all the wine you will be buying. (P.s. the old fashioneds he makes are out of this world! And the premix is available for sale. Of course we bought one. Highly recommended too!
