Joel and Dianne did a great job of guiding myself and my three adult sons on a half day rock climbing outing at Devils Lake. They were safety focused, patient, and informative. They wanted us to have a great day and we did.

I would definitely recommend them

I did the anchors course with Joel. He was very knowledgable and an excellent instructor. I now feel confident in my ability to construct and use top rope anchors. I would recommend this course for all beginner climbers who are trying to take the next step.

My husband and our two kids, ages 10 and 15, went out for our very first time climbing or rapelling. My husband and I found climbing difficult but my kids were quickly scrambling up the rocks. Rapelling was scary at first but not difficult. Diane and Joel were very patient. We've been doing lots of new "adventures" this summer after further afield travel was all cancelled. My 15 year old said this was her favorite activity of the whole summer. And of course the Devil's Lake setting is beautiful.

We weren't sure what we could do but they had chosen a spot that was perfect for us. Each climb was a challenge but they gave us great guidance from the ground and Diane was super encouraging. She helped me to realize I could do more than I thought I could do.

We also purchased the option to have lunch with them after and it way exceeded expectations! They packed a full cooler of sandwich and wrap fix-ins including vegetables from their garden! Plus chips, cookies, homemade tea, they brought utensils, tablecloth, everything you could possibly need! It was truly impressive and was the perfect treat after a fun climb!

We really enjoyed our experience with Joel and Diane! chosen

I am a first time climber and I wanted to be sure I not only enjoyed the event but, above all, it was safe. Matt provided a very instructional, experiential, and safe event for me to learn the basics (or the ropes, as it were) of climbing. He was very patient, took the time to ensure I was comfortable with every section of the climb, and kept me enagaged with his experiences as we made our way up the face. I could not have asked for a better event. I would strongly recommend Matt and Adventures in Climbing whether you are a beginner or a seasoned climber. Thanks, Matt, for a perfect start!

We had an awesome experience with Doug and Diane! They had everything ready for us and got us on the rock before any other climbers were there. They were very knowledgable and super encouraging. We climbed for a half-day which was perfect and our group size was only 4 people big so we were able to rock climb as much as we wanted! They had even set up a hammock to rest in if you got tired or just wanted to enjoy the view of the lake. Thanks for a great climb!

I met some folks from a rock climbing group online in the Midwest who were all getting folks together to go climb the Devils Tower, WY. I chose to go, however, I just started climbing and was far from experienced while everyone else was. One of guys in the group suggested I get a guide and see how I do. I booked a guide. As arrived to Devils Tower Lodge my guide appeared and well it just so happens to Matt. Matt guided me for my first time at Devils Lake, WI. Matt and Corey (the other guide) guided me up Endurance on the Devils Tower. This was my second multi-pitch climb ever and also my first crack/trad climb ever. Yea to new experiences! The guys showed me the ropes and we summited! I had such a blast that I scheduled another day to get a climb in while I was there . Matt was my guide again and it was just us this time. He showed me knots, challenged and encouraged me again, and showed me how to repel down. It’s been quite the adventure and pleasure to have Matt again as a guide. It was also pretty assuring that I knew I was going to conquer this summit since he was already familiar with my skills and an experienced guide. This guy is an awesome support system. Thanks again Matt you rock!

Our family of four did the Devil's Lake rock climbing adventure. What a great way to spend time with your kids! Never having done this before, I would say it was challenging. Our daughters are 11 and 13 and they would do it again in a heartbeat, much easier for them! It looked impossible to see the wall of granite and think that you could climb it but Matt was very supportive and reassuring. We would go again with him anytime and hope to soon. Downfall, rain makes granite slippery adding an extra element of difficulty to climbing. Hopefully better weather next time and would like to try his outing at Mississippi Palisades too.

I recently went Rick climbing with three other beginning rock climbers through Adventures in Climbing! Although a challenge for newbies, I cannot say enough great things about our guide, Matt, and the experience he gave us! He was continuously encouraging, flexible, and extremely personable! To put up with four ladies that have never done it, he made us all feel a great sense of accomplishment by the end as we reached the top! I will never forget the view! One bucket list item checked off, and I must say, it is because of the amazing support and knowledge Matt provided! I would most certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a thrilling challenge!
