An interesting link with the past.

This capital-city suburb is basically a drab industrial zone with a few strip malls and other businesses mixed in. The Indian Mound on US 60 in the east end of town adds a nice aesthetic touch to South Charleston. It's hard to believe but true that many bodies were buried in the mound; it's a relic of the ancient history... More

Great information hosts lots of local festivals. Kids love to climb the mound and look out from the top. Nice part of the South Charleston Downtown area. Very close to lots of shops and restaurants.

This is a big historic spot in a little part of the city. The restaurants around it are pretty good and the parking is easily accessible. Read the historic markers and soak in the meaning--- It won't take long!

I have always been at awe of this Indian mound being in the middle of a shopping area. It is well kept and very pretty. A great educational piece for all ages and at no cost. Love how it has been preserved and respected.

unique and interesting as you read the history and climb the mound. Interestingly surrounded by the small town atmosphere. A public gathering place, but is not well lit at night.

This is an indian burial ground, smack in the middle of South Charleston. Basically a big grassy knoll. Fine for a quick visit if you are there for other reasons. wouldn't go just for that though. Being in the heart of South Charleston, there are a lot of nice eateries around, so if you have to find a place to... More

Very interesting site to visit and read the history of. Love that it sits in the middle of the town and everyone works around the area and it has a little sitting area to reflect and just sit and enjoy.

We visited The Mound, having read about it in a local guide book. It is centrally located in downtown South Charleston, off the 60 at D Street. It was very easy to find and there is plenty free parking. The story of The Mound is told on boards at the west side of the base of the Mound. It is... More

Located close to two very good in selection & size antique malls & some unique & ethnic restaurants this historical burial mound could become an even more exciting destination if some historical artifacts were on display

Great view of South Charleston from the top of the mound. Lots of birds frolic in the trees, and you can catch a festival at different times of the year here. I would like to see it add a bathroom facility however. It is central to the South Charleston shopping district where you can pick up everyday supplies at the... More
