I can’t speak highly enough of Seneca Rocks Climbing School and our guide, Daniel! My 2 friends and I took a 3 day advanced course (301/401), and it was everything we wanted it to be and more. I went into this trip with some fear surrounding trad climbing because I didn’t have any familiarity with the gear. Daniel was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in all of this explanations as well as very patient with all of our questions. He asked us what we wanted to learn and tailored the course to meet our goals while taking into consideration our initial skill set. We would have happily stayed for a few more days and continued to soak in all the knowledge Daniel had to share, but we were able to walk away on day 3 with a substantial amount of information about knots, multi-pitch climbing, rappelling, rope management, gear placement, anchor building, and so much more. We also left with confidence that we could repeat what we were taught. This class was worth every penny, and was an incredibly positive and informative experience!

I took a guide for a day because I was on my own, with no gear nor experience on trad climbing. So I spent a Saturday with Garry in Seneca Rocks and it was awesome. Garry is very experienced and sympathetic. It explained my a lot of stuff on the area and climbing in general and we had a really nice climbing session. He tried hard to find spots matching my skills and tasted and spent a lot of extra hours.

2 days climbing with our guide Sean...totally amazing. Sean is an expert guide, very safe, felt confident in his abilities, fun and very knowledgeable about the history and WV area in general. I am beginner climber..and I learned a ton, having the best time every! Very adaptable to all levels of experience. Campsite was short walking distance to the climbing school with a stunning view of Seneca rock. Definitely will do again!

Climbing is a TON of fun, but it is also very dangerous; because Seneca Rocks Climbing School's Staff are all Certified Guides I feel extremely safe climbing, but also learning all of the best practices/ techniques. Every Staff Member I've met is respectful when teaching, and when 'correcting'. I personally find this so important because climbing isn't about who looks better while doing it, or who talks about how much they know, it's about fostering a positive learning environment while remaining humble. I have the upmost respect for the SRCS Staff because they aren't about showing off, they're all just actually great climbers. If you're on the fence about spending the weekend with SRCS don't hesitate; the feeling of reaching the summit is one you will remember forever.
