We visited the Discovery Center for the first time last weekend. It had a number of displays and a very interesting moving about soldiers training for mountain climbing back in the 40's. I had not known that that happened. Would stop there again.

Advice on vacation plans (10 Replies)
We are planning our first trip to the beautiful state of West Virginia and would like your advice on our itinerary. We plan to travel around the first couple of weeks of June. Please feel free to let us know if it is too ambitious for our time frame...that is one of my biggest concerns. I would also like to know if there is a great place I didn't include as well as any place I did include that wouldn't be worth the time. We are not city people...we live in the city(Orlando, FL). When we go on...More

Sounds like you have a lot planned! So glad you chose WV to spend your vacation.! There is lots to do in our beautiful state. The only thing I would suggest:: Day 5-6 sounds pretty busy. Beartown is beautiful and won't take too long to walk thru. Really...not much there at all. Good photo opps though. Falls of Hills Creek could take some time if you plan on walking down to the last fall. It is quite a hike..and tiring too. You might want to consider staying the night at Snowshoe Ski Resort...More
