I spent a good 2 1/2 hours at this museum. It has a minimal ($4) entrance fee. Start with the video in the basement, which gives the history of the Blennerhasset family. Helps understand some of the things in the museum. When I was there, they had a short term quilt event, which was very good. Lovely quilts!

A great way to get to know how Parkersburg evolved and the role it played in building of a new nation...

This museum has a wide range of cool and interesting items. Most of it relates, of course, to the Blennerhassets, the island, and West Virginia in general. Well worth seeing, though. And the lady at the desk was extremely informative, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. (She even allowed me to charge my phone up and kept an eye on it while... More

The museum is well worth an hour or two. There's an informative video in the lower level as well as the Stahl Collection, an extensive and eclectic collection of paleolithic and Native American items, all lovingly labelled with 19th century penmanship. The first and second levels have local artifacts from the 18th, 19th, and 20th century.

I was surprised to see how big this museum was, as it did not appear that large from the outside. It had a nice collection of items from the area. We were not able to see all of it, as we got there too late, but it has three floors; the basement has a short film on the area. Unfortunately,... More

Staff is very helpful. You get your ticket for the sternwheeler boat ride to Blennerhassett Island at this museum and you board the boat about two blocks away from the museum. It's an easy walk; however, if you have mobility issues, there is parking nearer to the boarding location. They've done a nice job at the museum of telling some... More

This is a thoroughly fascinating museum, it's jam packed with lots of quirky historical artefacts and pearls of knowledge. I spent a good few hours here before going to Blennerhasset island and I can thoroughly recommend it. As a solo traveller I was made to feel really welcome by the great volunteers. Definitely one not to miss.
